IDW Publishing’s THE TRANSFORMERS: STORMBRINGER #1 Sells Out In First Week of Release
San Diego, Calif. (July 28, 2006) - Fans of IDW Publishing's TRANSFORMERS comics ventured back to CYBERTRON in record numbers. The July release of THE TRANSFORMERS: STORMBRINGER #1 sold out in its first week of release, exceeding expectations for this new title.
According to Comics Continuum, Bob Budiansky is returning to the world of Transformers. Budiansky is writing a Transformers Animated Movie Adaptation, a mini-series that will adapt the 1986 Transformers: The Movie. An interesting note is that he's inserted Snarl into the mix, as he was unfortunately left out of the majority of the movie (done at the request of none other than Don Figueroa!)
Other big news: - Escalation starts in November - October's spotlight is on Nightbeat, then will be followed up with Hot Rod and Sixshot - Ryall said there are big plans to coincide with the live-action Transformers movie next summer, but they will be announced this fall - Upcoming collections include The Greatest Battles of Optimus Prime and Megatron, The Best of Simon Furman and The Best of Don Figueroa - A poster of all the Stormbringer wraparound covers, by Figueroa and colorist Josh Burcham, is scheduled for October

IDW has made available a 5 page preview of their upcoming Transformers Infiltration #6. The first titanic arc - Infiltration - wraps up in spectacular, no-holds-barred style, as Megatron sets about - demonstrably - putting his house (on Earth) in order. But, mighty as he is, has even Megatron got what it takes to curtail the activities of the all-new, hyper-powered Starscream? Whichever way it goes, the outlook looks distinctly bleak for the beleaguered earthbound Autobots. Could be that it’s time for Prowl and Co. to roll out the big guns? You can check it out by clicking here.
