2005 New Server Donation Drive - Goal Met in Under 24 Hours!

Whoo-Fa!

In just under 14 hours, you the fans have helped us reach our goal of 3000 dollars COMPLETELY! We here at TFW2005, especially me, would like to thank everyone who has donated with the most sincere thanks one can give. I was very reluctant to even go this route, I guess a mixture of pride and stubborness. And once we did, I really didn't think it would do much to the total cause other than just make us look like we were begging. Your support has not only allowed us to move forward with making this place better, but shown how strong this community really is. And that means a lot to everyone here on staff. So thank you!

That being said, I would like to address what will happen with anything above and beyond that 3000 mark. As we said before, the 3000 dollars is only part of what is needed to run this for a year. Less than half. So, anything donated above and beyond that 3000 will still go to the server. It just puts a little less stress on us throughout the year. It will not be used for anything other than server hardware or software regardless. If we happen to get a significant amount over the 3000, then we will apply that to a server, and use our normal payment money we have factored into our budgets now to buy upgrades for the board, new gallery software, completely new software and systems, and more in that light. If there is left over, it will either stay in a backup fund for emergencies, or be used to run contests and giveaways with more significant prizes, which ultimately goes back to you the fans. There will be no major investment in a secondary project without notice to the fans. If you guys decide you want to attempt a project like that, then we will start a different drive specifically for that, later. Rest assured, if you wanted to donate but couldn't within the first day, it's still welcomed and will be used appropriately. We are just now past the "Need It Now" stage.

We will begin the process of obtaining and setting up the new server today. It will take between 2 and 4 weeks to fully get it set up, have everything transferred over, have the domains re-propigate, etc. We will keep you updated. There will be probably a day or so downtime once we pull the trigger.

TFW2005 New Server Donation Drive Open!

TFW2005 has officially launced it's New Server Drive! As many of you know, we have been overloaded for a while now, causing the dreaded "500 Internal Server Error" and more.

We have consistently tweaked our settings to try and cope, but we think we have officially reached our peak.

In order to cope with the increase in users (as can be seen now in the "users online area" - the front page is now counted in our users online), we need to basically double our server specs. We currently pay over 3000 dollars a year to bring you TFW2005.com, and if we upgrade, that price more than doubles.

So, we aren't asking you the fans to foot the entire bill, but we are shooting for a chunk of it. If we can raise 3000 from you guys, that will allow us to move forward with an upgrade to the server, and to the boards, that should keep us going for years to come.

If you are feeling generous, head on over to our new Donation Page. You do not need to be registered to donate. This will securely allow you to use paypal to donate to us, and keep a record of all the posters who have. On top of that we have a set goal, so you can watch along with us as we move towards the 3000 mark.

Reminder - TFW2005 and BBTS Battlescene Contest

This is just a friendly reminder to everyone thinking of entering the contest to get your entries in. For those that may have missed it, TFW2005 and BBTS are holding a contest where you can win a $100 gift certificate to BBTS. Just setup your favorite Transformers toys to mimick a Transformers battlescene and take a picture.

Remember, there are 2 categories. One for straight, undoctored photos and one for doctored photos. So if you're handy with a photo editing program, you can show off those skills. Send all pics to Contest@TFW2005.com by August 31st.

Them Funny Robots #100

It's been YEARS in the making, but Buzzbeak has finally made it to Them Funny Robots #100. What started as a little joke thing at the old Transformers Generation 3 website (don't go there, it got purchased by some Asian porn site) became quite the popular TFW2005 Boards phenomenon, and has spurred our Transformers Funnies forum and countless strips by countless members.

The TFW2005 and BBTS Transformers Battlescene Contest

TFW2005.com and Bigbadtoystore.com have teamed up to bring you the TFW2005 Transformers Battlescene Contest. We are giving away not one, but two $100 gift certificates to Bigbadtoystore.com. To enter, all you need to do is take a picture of toys from your Transformers collection in a battlescene. It can be as little as 2 figures recreating the battle of Sherman Dam, or you can create your own battlescene with multiple figures in your toy room. And because there are 2 prizes, there are 2 categories; one for undoctored photos, and one for photoshopped images. And that's not all, we will also be picking a third person at random and sending them a mystery prize, just for entering. TFW2005 Update - Ebay Launch Pad Minor Upgrades

Just a quick update to the site. Our Ebay Launch Pad has been modified. Mostly things on the back end, but one noticable difference for the fans will a bit faster load time. We also added direct RSS feed links to the results we use for each listing, pulling right from ebay in real time. So if you want search results for specific lines or types of items sent to your browser, start page, email or feed client, feel free to utilize those.
