Zhong Jin's counterfeit version of the Generation 1 Sharkticon Gnaw is a bit of a tricky one to pin down. Some came with the gold sticker from the Japanese mail in campaign, and only some have the robot face unpainted (though an unpainted face is a certain sign of it being a knockoff). There are other ways to identify the toy as a counterfeit as well: - The "sunburst" behind the character art is excessively bright and obscures the gridline pattern. It is also bigger, touching the bottom of the box. - The purple background color is brighter and closely to magenta than the original. - The glue on the bubble holding Gnaw to the backer card is very weak on the knockoff, and frequently either falls off or is stapled into place, although this is not a certain sign as due to age, glue may weaken, so keep an eye out for other signs such as the sunburst. |
