"Transformer Gum" kits consist of 3 runners, and some kits have over 50 pieces.
Although the models are less than 10 cm (3.9 inches) tall, they imitate the original toys' transformations and gimmicks as much as possible.
As Alert toy is a re-deco of Lambor, you might think Kabaya would also have taken an easier path, and simply used Series 1 Lambor kit mould with different plastic colours (and called it Alert). But that's just not Kabaya style. This Alert kit is a completely new mould.
When you compare Alert to Lambor, the difference is so apparent. While Lambor looks very different from the toy due to Kabaya's original interpretation, Alert looks almost the same as his toy counterpart.
But his vehicle mode suffers because of this more complicated structure. As you can see in the picture, there are some noticeable gaps in the car. Though there is one positive thing here as well! The red part on the side is not done by applying stickers, but they are separate parts. Such detailed parting by colours wasn't done even in Gundam kits until MG (Master Grade - 1995~), and it's surprising that candy toys achieved that several years early.
