Base information for character / toy Red Alert (Cybertron Defense).
Name Cybertron Defense Red Alert
Japanese Name First Gunner
Japanese Number GC-21
Faction Autobots

Bio
Red Alert is, first and foremost, a healer. As Autobot medic, he has never hesitated to rush onto a battlefield under heavy fire to assist an injured comrade. Indeed, there are many Autobots (and even one or two Decepticons) who owe their lives to him. It is because of his skills as a healer that Optimus Prime handpicks him to be part of the team - along with Hot Shot and Scattorshot - to return to Cybertron and cleanse his home owrld of the Terorcons infestation. Though he is uncomfortable with the new armor and heavy weapons with which he has been upgraded, he recognizes their necessity, and will not hesitate to engage in battle if his hand is forced.

Red Alert (Cybertron Defense) Review

-Submitted by: Tannerbot2000

Galaxy force returned a much loved concept to the transformers universe, actual new forms for a powered up character rather than a repaint. One of the characters to receive this treatment was Red Alert.

The original red alert was criticized by some for being rather short for a deluxe. The new version rectifies the situation with a vengeance. The new Red alert is tall, about the same height as Jetfire, with the gigantic missile adding to his height. The new mold for Red Alert also ups the ante for this formerly poorly armed bot. The small defensive guns on the top of the vehicle, or in bot mode, his shin are complimented by a gigantic missile (as long as Red Alert is tall) and a force chip activated cannon on his left arm. The missile is where the primary key gimmick is placed. When inserted, the front 2/3 of the missile splits with a thinner central spike, resembling a split boom cannon design that is reminiscent of any split beam cannon found in anime. The middle of the assembly has a firing missile, which in true transformers fashion goes about eight inches. The cannon can be equipped at the end with either a three tined claw, or a big hammer, much like the smaller Red Alert. A first for the Armadaverse version of red alert is a left Hand. The new Red Alert now has the ability to count to ten on his fingers, truly a joyous day for us all! The new mold is a very bulky bot (in a good way), intimidating with his weapon load, and overall a very good addition to the line, making me even more eager for Cybertron Defense Hot Shot and Scattorshot .

The mechanical aspects of the design

Red Alert now takes the form of a missile carrier, like a scud launcher (made infamous by various world leaders). The vehicle mode has little play value, being able to roll the vehicle along, raise the missile to launch position, and activate the missile’s key gimmick. The transformation is relatively simple, reminiscent of Evac’s, in that the arms and legs fold forward from the torso to make up the front of the vehicle. When in bot mode, the points of articulation are as follows. Head (turns), Shoulders (forward and back), Elbows (forward and back and swivel), Wrists (swivel), Waist (swivel), Hips (forward and back, and outward movement), Knees (forward and back and swivel). The missile launcher can be moved in approximately a 80 degree arc, and slide along a track on the back of the bot. The hammer and claw attachments are stored in the shins, with the claw on the right side, and the hammer in the left (by the bot’s hands). The cannon accessory on the left arm has its action hampered by the overlarge shoulder armor, and so some care must be invoked here to ensure it works properly. The only technically lacking aspects of the design is the fact that there is no outward articulation in the arms, but, as that is ll that is lacking, it seems almost nit picking to complain about that.

Final verdict 9
Buy this guy, promote remolds, not repaints

Cyber Key Code: up0t
Unlocked information from http://www.transformers.com:
In his newly reformatted form, Red Alert has even more diagnostic and medical abilities than ever before. Every finger, every panel, every diode and wire has the ability to reconfigure, re-transform and re-deploy at the merest thought from Red Alert to aid one of his fallen comrades on the battlefield. This was put to the test during one of the massive swarms of Scrapmetal on Cybertron when Hot Shot - always the reckless youth - ran headfirst into the swarm. Overrun with the beasts, they bit off Hot Shot's arm. Racing to his aid, Red Alert grabbed the arm and used his massive shoulder-mounted Ion cannon to knock back the swelling insecticons. He then expertly replaced and repaired Hot Shot's arm - even fixing a bad rotator cuff in the process.
