Cartoon Overview
Waspinator was created in a transwarp fusion experiment conducted by Blackarachnia. By using the power of a Transwarp cell, Blackarachnia managed to combine the former Autobot Wasp with a normal wasp (in a scene reminiscent of horror movie, The Fly). Blackarachnia's ultimate goal was to create another technoorganic hybrid to use as a means of testing cures for her own condition on, working on the assumption that if she could turn Waspinator back into Wasp, she herself could also undo her organic side.

Waspinator was a true monster. Huge, powerful, and thanks to the Transwarp element of his mutation, completely unstable. Wasp first went after Sentinel Prime, and then took on Bumblebee before he learned about Blackarachnia's true intentions for him and turned on her. His transwarp mutation malfunctioned and he exploded, taking Blackarachnia and a large portion of Dinobot Island with him.

He was last scene in parts unknown, blown apart but piecing himself back together. "Wazzzpinator cannot go offline... Wazzzpinator hazzz planzzz..."

Powers and Abilities

In addition to his large size granting him great strength, Waspinator can fire beams of energy reminiscent of Stinger blasts from the small appendages on his chest. He is also incredibly resilient, capable of surviving explosions that might kill other robots.

Notes
Transformers Animated Waspinator, during his brief appearance in the second half of Predacons Rising, can be seen as a threat on par with the other Decepticons in Transformers Animated. When you consider that Beast Wars Waspinator was a joke character, and Animated Waspinator carries over some of the Beast Wars incarnations traits (such as his manner of speech, his ability to survive being blown to bits), it's pretty amazing to see a dangerous Waspinator!
