| Cartoon Overview The “Joker” of the DECEPTICONS. An unpredictable “triple changer” multiple personality bot, driven mad by his constantly shifting appearance. He has three personalities, one for each face, and his power depends on the face: Icy, cold and calculating; Hothead, short tempered, volatile; and Random, completely bonkers.
Blitzwing makes a brief cameo in Thrill of the Hunt on a viewscreen. He's posted a bounty on the head of Optimus Prime, because he holds Optimus Prime responsible for defeating Megatron. In Lost and Found, Blitzwing arrives on Earth with Lugnut, tracking the locater beacon on Megatron's ship (which Starscream crashed into the moon around about Transform and Roll Out! Part 3, presumably).
With Lugnut, Blitzwing attacks New Detroit trying to draw out the Autobots and faces off against them at a construction site, until Lugnut is contacted by Megatron and pulls Blitzwing out of the area. Blitzwing objects to being manhandled (since Megatron did not contact him, he simply assumes Lugnut's blind devotion has made him crazy) and breaks loose of Lugnut's grasp, landing at an airfield. There, Blitzwing takes his alternate mode - his Icy personality favors an attack jet, while the Hothead prefers an assault tank, so the Random personality simply scans both for them!
Following Lugnut, who has been provided with the energy signature for Sari's key, Blitzwing engages the Autobots in a battle beneath the surface of Lake Erie, until Ratchet and Sari reactivate the Ark's attack protocols and blow them both away. Heavily damaged, Blitzwing and Lugnut are tracked down by Starscream and are offered repairs in turn for their undying loyalty to him.
Blitzwing reappeared in Megatron Rising, fully repaired and still with Starscream. Under Starscream's orders, he followed Lugnut when Lugnut, under secret orders from Megatron, took off to recover Sari's Key (by now in the possession of Ratchet). With Lugnut at his side, Blitzwing made short work of Ratchet and took the key from Ratchet, along with the Autobot's right arm. He then proceeded to Sumdac tower where he placed the Key in Megatron's head, allowing Megatron to be reborn in his new body. Blitzwing followed Megatron in the attack on the Ark in Part 2, where after a dogfight the Ark was shot down. Blitzwing took on Bumblebee, Prowl and Ratchet. Bumblebee and Ratchet used an EMP to knock Blitzwing offline temporarily, before Prowl identified Blitzwing's weakness - his personalities are tied to their alternate modes (Hot-blooded face to the tank, cold and calculating to the jet). Bumblebee then helped to exploit this by goading the hot-blooded personality into taking over, causing Blitzwing to crash.
Blitzwing, along with Lugnut and Megatron, are in hiding at the start of the show's second season. Blitzwing has yet to take any major action, although with Lugnut he has stolen the communicator from the Elite Guard's ship.
Blitzwing next shows up in Velocity where he is ordered to search for an Allspark Fragment by Megatron. He tracks the fragment to the underground "Street Demon" races organised by Master Disaster, and quickly encounters the Autobots Bulkhead (who he freezes) and Bumblebee. A pursuit erupts through the city, with Blitzwing in jet mode pursuing Bumblebee, launching his entire arsenal of missiles at the Autobot, although Bumblebee's speed and quick-thinking in the face of danger give Blitzwing a hard pursuit - made harder again by Sari's use of Master Disaster's Allspark Powered remote control, which Sari uses to take control of Blitzwing. However, when Bumblebee hits a bump in the road, Sari drops the controller. Just when all seemed lost, the Autobot Blurr crashes through an overpass and knocks Blitzwing flying, sending him crashing into Master Disaster's trailer. Bumblebee confronts Blitzwing, who calmly blasts the road above Bumblebee, burying him. However, the blast frees Bulkhead, and Sari, who recovered the remote control, again takes control of Blitzwing. Blitzwing flees instead of staying and being controlled.
In Rise of the Constructicons, we learn how Blitzwing resents Megatron's tendency to remain at base and let his troops (i.e. himself and Lugnut) do all the heavy work. Also in Rise of the Constructicons, Blitzwing's Icy side demonstrates his extreme cunning when he talks the Constructicons into doing some heavy lifting for him and Lugnut, introducing them to Megatron in the process and starting them on the slippery slope to becoming Decepticons. In fact, Blitzwing would be the one who convinced the Constructicons to join up with the Decepticons, after he found them wandering after a fight with Sari at the Autobot's headquarters.
Blitzwing only plays a small role in the titanic battle at Megatron's base in A Bridge Too Close, thanks to being knocked out of action and locked up in Stasis Cuffs early in the fight. Later, After Scrapper rescues him, he joins in the fight against the gigantic Autobot Omega Supreme, but he loses out in that fight to a headbutt from Omega. He is next seen in "Five Servos of Doom" where Sentinel Prime with some "off the books" help from Lockdown is able to capture Blitzwing along with several other Decepticons. Blitzwing along with the rest is taken to Cybertron at the end of "Predacons Rising".
Along with the other Decepticons, Blitzwing is freed from the Elite Guard's brig and rearmed by a newly revived Swindle. With the other Decepticons, Swindle captures Sentinel Prime, Jazz, Jetfire and Jetstorm, and locks them up in their own brig. When Optimus Prime manages to get on board the ship by way of highjacking Swindle's personal transwarp field, Blitzwing goes after Optimus, who initially evades the Decepticons and frees the Elite Guard. After the battle moves into space outside the Elite Guard ship, and Lugnut is knocked spinning into space, Blitzwing assumes command of the Decepticons and hearing Sentinel Prime go on about how he is the leader, grabs Sentinel as a bargaining ship, demanding the rest of the Autobots surrender. Optimus, Jetfire and Jetstorm agree.
Back on the ship, Blitzwing throws the four Autobots into the decontamination chamber with Jazz, who under Optimus Prime's orders had configured it to freeze the occupants - or so Blitzwing thought, mocking Optimus for shouting his orders where everyone could hear. In reality, Optimus had sent a secret code to Jazz, instructing him to rig the chamber to freeze everyone outside the chamber. Blitzwing never considered that there was a chance that it might be a trap, so he activated the chamber, and was frozen solid, along with the two Starscream clones (Lugnut was left adrift in space, and Swindle got away).
Blitzwing was last seen being paraded as a prisoner of war at Sentinel Prime's inauguration.
A version of Blitzwing also appeared in the virtual reality that Soundwave trapped the Autobots in during "Human Error". In this story, Blitzwing was a major threat until the Autobots worked out how to fight in the virtual reality, at which point, Bulkhead (still in human form) smashed his way through Blitzwing's leg, and Bumblebee (also still in human form) ran up Blitzwing's body and smacked him in the face a few times to get Blitzwing's faces spinning and cause him to collapse from the disorientation. Powers and Abilities
BLITZWING is a “triple-changer”—that is, he has three modes (one robot, two vehicles). Plus he has three faces, each with its own personality. His power depends on which face he’s showing. Heat/flame, cold/ice or completely random.
In jet mode, Blitzwing possesses a huge arsenal of missiles, in addition to his cannons. As he tends to have his "icy" personality in control of the jet, he tends to use the "freeze" setting in jet mode, but he can also use them as conventional weapons. The missiles can be launched both individually or as a huge swarm, and can either freeze entire areas (either freezing the ground for a large distance, or creating massive ice walls) or merely acting as conventional explosives.
In tank mode, with the "hothead" Blitzwing in command, Blitzwing employs his main tank cannons to great, destructive effect, and again the cannons can switch between "fiery" attacks and standard firepower.
In robot mode, "Icy" Blitzwing's monocle eye doubles up as a binocular targeting scope, with a selection of scans available.
Blitzwing has some limited control over his three faces - he can sometimes switch at will, but on other occasions he can be forced to switch, for example making him angry tends to bring out the "hot head" personality. Although there is a downside - Blitzwing's three personalities make it hard for Blitzwing to follow orders, especially considering how Random likes chaos and hothead likes fighting.
