Brought online in a secret laboratory deep beneath Cybertron, they are the first Autobots created specifically to battle the Decepticons. Though they are young, they are extremely intelligent, working their way through the Elite Guard boot camp in record time. Together they are potentially the most powerful Autobots of all time, especially when they combine into their SAFEGUARD form.

Can combine with Jetstorm to form a superjet, or the super robot Safeguard! | | | Jetfire Parts List | | | | | Jetfire Cartoon / Movie Information | | Cartoon Overview Jetfire debuts in "Where is Thy Sting?". An Elite Guard soldier under Sentinel Prime's command, Jetfire is capable of flight, and can hurl balls of flame to incapacitate enemies. He's also very agile and a little cocky. He's fairly fascinated by Earth culture especially videogames.
Along with Jetstorm, Jetfire takes part in Elite Guard operations under Sentinel Prime's command in Season 3. First, he takes on Bumblebee who has been made to switch places with Wasp, by Wasp. Next, he takes part in a battle with the Liar Starscream clone. When not in battle, he like Jetstorm is showing great admiration for Sentinel Prime's completely bogus stories of heroics and is forever trying to fix the Elite Guard Ship's Subspace Guidance Gyro Stabilizer (which Sentinel Prime himself removed to give to Lockdown).
Jetfire and Jetstorm, along with Sentinel Prime, resume their pursuit of Wasp in "Predacons Rising". When Swoop plucks Wasp out of the middle of the chase and takes him to Dinobot Island, Jetfire & Jetstorm link up in jet mode and give Sentinel Prime a lift to Dinobot Island. In spite of following Sentinel's orders, both recognize that Sentinel is generally giving stupid commands, at least where flight is concerned. When Sentinel broke into Blackarachnia's lair, Jetfire and Jetstorm were assigned to keep the Dinobots busy - after Snarl was defeated, Jetfire took on Grimlock himself, and although their battle took place off camera, it is generally safe to assume that the jet twins had no problem with the Dinobots.
They returned to Cybertron at the end of "Predacons Rising" along with Jazz, Sentinel Prime and a ship full of Decepticon prisoners. These Decepticon prisoners, including a revived Swindle, escaped and took over the ship in "Decepticon Air". Jetifre and Jetstorm were quickly defeated by Swindle, who used a device procured on a trip to Quintessa to put them both into a stasis bubble. Later, after Optimus Prime boarded the ship and rescued all four Elite Guard members, the fight shifted into space outside the ship, where Jetfire and Jetstorm came into their own, fighting the Decepticons on their own level. They evidently managed to take down two of Starscream's clones, before Blitzwing grabbed Sentinel Prime and demanded all the Autobots surrender. Optimus told the twins to do so, but he had a plan to handle the Decepticons - he'd asked Jazz to rig the decontamination chamber to freeze anyone outside of it, saying out loud that it will freeze whoever was inside, counting on the Decepticons to put them all in the chamber, should they be caught. The trick worked perfectly, and the Decepticons were defeated.
Jetfire & Jetstorm returned to Cybertron after this, and remain under Sentinel Prime's command. Powers and Abilities
In addition to being the only other Autobot who can fly, Jetfire possesses above average strength and agility for an Autobot of his size. His main ability, though, is his ability to generate intense blasts of fire, which also can turn his body into a blazing "flame on" form. However Jetfire is not able to fully control this ability at first, and needs Jetstorm to cool him down - otherwise, he can go out of control. This particular ability was never seen on screen - it was only seen in the "Rise of Safeguard" comic.
Jetfire also has a unique bond with his brother Jetstorm, allowing for excellent teamwork, and also the ability to merge to form the super-robot, Safeguard. They can also combine in jet modes for an extra boost of speed. Appearances

Jetfire and Jetstorm began as engineers at an Energon refinery, until their clowning around and sibling rivalry caused an accident that nearly killed them. Located by Perceptor, the two were used as a test for Project: Safeguard, Ultra Magnus' project to create flying Autobots to counter the Decepticon resurgence. Once rebuilt in their new forms, they became, as Perceptor called it, the "future of Cybertron".
Jetfire and Jetstorm were then put through Elite Guard training by Jazz and Sentinel Prime. Jazz taught the new recruits servo-to-servo combat, but found the two were very good at improvising. Sentinel Prime meanwhile acted as Drill Sergeant, naming the new Autobots. The twins, though, quickly proved to be very strong and powerful, easily managing to overcome Elite Guard training and getting arrogant, thinking it was sickeningly easy (as the Elite Guard never had to train flying Autobots before). Ultra Magnus decided they needed to experience real combat, and Perceptor came up with the idea of upgrading a combat simulator with a sample of Starscream's code.
In the VR, Jetfire and Jetstorm fought a Starscream as dangerous as the real thing. The simulator ran out of control, though, and the VR Starscream ran amok. The stress of the battle caused Jetfire's innate fire abilities to awaken both in the VR and also in reality, where they threatened to go out of control and torch everything. Fortunately, Jetstorm's own cold powers also activated and he was able to cool off Jetfire. The twins then proceeded to fight Starscream with a powered-up combined mode, Safeguard. Before they could finish the fight, though, Perceptor was able to regain control and abort the simulation. The twins believed they were ready for real combat, and were assigned as junior officers in the Elite Guard. Their first mission is, with Jazz and Sentinel Prime, to track down the recently-escaped Autobot traitor Waspinator. Appearances
