Freedom is the right of all sentient beings!
Optimus Prime is the strongest and wisest of all Autobots. His role is to protect life in the fight to defeat the Decepticons. This all-powerful leader gathers information on his enemies from up to 1200 miles away and relays this information to his fellow Autobots. His brain center gives all combat orders, but he isn't one to stay out of the battle himself. With his powerful rocket blaster he is both a respected commander, and a feared warrior.
Hero Optimus comes blister packed. His card is surrounded by a huge plastic bubble that holds the figure against the card. The figure has art to the right with the Transformers logo above it. The card back is all black.
The style in which this figure is packed, makes for two ways to display it. It can stand up, because of the nature of the blister card, or it can be hung on a peg, like most other carded figures.
Not many accessories come with Hero Optimus. He comes with a gun, and two long missiles. The missiles can be stored on his side, or one can be stored on the missile launcher.
Unlike every truck-based Optimus to come before him, Hero Optimus does not have a separate cab and trailer. Instead the figure is more of a long-nosed cab with an air bellows attached to the bed. It looks about as interesting as it sounds.
The front of the cab is mostly white, with a red, orange and yellow stripe. The back of the cab is red with a blue mounted cannon and a yellow mounted pump. Again, not very interesting to look at.
In robot mode, Hero Optimus fares much, much better. He's very easy to transform. Fold the legs down from the front of the cab, pull the arms out from the back. Done.
In robot mode, Hero Optimus resembles the "classic" style Optimus much more than his vehicle mode would indicate. His upper body and arms are all red, with a grille in the mid-section and window like squared on his chest. The head is dead on Optimus, with the legs being made up of white with a red, orange and yellow stripe. Mounted on his right arm is the blue cannon, a nice counter to Megatron.
Hero Optimus is a very articulated figure, which is a welcome feature on the figure. Arms rotate at the shoulder and bend at the elbows. Legs rotate at the hips and bend at the knees. Putting this figure in a semi-dynamic pose shouldn't be so hard. If there is one grip about the robot mode, it's that the missiles tend to pop off a little easily from his back.
The robot mode is definitely the saving grace of this figure. makes a great mode to display him in and fun to play with as well.
A decent figure. the robot mode is a major plus, with the vehicle mode looking quite boring. But it's still a fun figure to mess with, and can usually be found pretty inexpensively. Recommended.
