| | | | Optimus Prime Review | -Submitted by: Galvashift | Overall Score: 10 Here is the review of the transformer who started this site in 1984- Optimus Prime! VEHICLE MODE
Well, he's a truck cab with a trailler. His headlights are where arms reside, it has smokestacks on his ttop sides, and is pretty neat to say the least. If you want to know what he comes with, the OPTIMUS PRIME truck cab, semi trailer, 6 wheeled vehicle, 2 fists, laser blaster, pistol, 4 rockets, gas pump handle, the nozzle, and the instruction sheet. ROBOT MODE
It's a quick switch from vehicle to robot!
1. Pull the rear wheels down and fold the feet up.
2. Fold out the hands to the sides.
3. Pull the elbows forward to create his arms.
4. Turn the roof panel to reveal Optimus Prime's head.
5. Insert the fists into the slots on the arms. The fingers should face him.
6. Fit the laser blaster in his left hand.
Well we now have him at robot mode! Prime is at his glory. His articulation is very good, and he looks like the one that was in the tv show. Now if you don't think the trailer transforms, think again! TRAILER TRANSFORMATION
1. Pull out the stabilizer legs and pull down the tailgate section.
2. Separate the the trailer sides and pull them all the way down.
3. Pull up the mechanic/artillery bot. Fit the rockets into the holes in him. Swing his claws and radar dish into their positions. He can move 360 degrees.
4. To put together the scout car, attach the wheels with their large holes facing away from the vehicle on the posts on the car's chassis. Fit an end of the hose into the gas pump and the other in the nozzle. fit the post on the gas pump into the hole in the car and its done.
5. If you want to, a button on the mechanic/artillery bot launches the rockets.
6. If your version is the label one, apply the labels in the corresponding areas in the instructions.
Also, rub on the black square on Optimus Prime to reaveal an Autobot insignia. TRAILER BASE MODE
Now with the base transformed, you can store the scout car in it. The walls of the base show many computer screens with information to maximze the look of the base. The cool thin is, the trailer's mechanic/artillery robot can fire and Prime can pose to look as if he is operating it. The scout car can be either the blue or silver one packaged with it. Now there is one final thing we haven't been over. THE MATRIX OF LEADERSHIP
Opening Optimus's window doors will reveal his Matrix. You can remove it, and give it to Rodimus Prime to make him look almost like he did in TF:TM. The Matrix is just simply silver. LAST WORD
If you see an Optimus Prime, grab him so you can enjoy him and have fun with him. | | | Optimus Prime Cartoon / Movie Information | | Cartoon Overview In the original, pre-Movie episodes, Optimus Prime was the mighty, heroic leader of the Autobots, leading his team to victory over Megatron's schemes most weeks. Although generally hard to beat, on occasion he would be brought down by the likes of Laserbeak. Famously, Optimus died in the Movie. He would return in the third season episode, Dark Awakening, as a part of a Quintesson plot to destroy the Autobots. He returned for real in the Return of Optimus Prime. In the Rebirth, he was haunted by the ghost of Alpha Trion, who guided him in creating a new golden age for Cybertron (by a contrast, in the Japanese Headmasters series, he was haunted by the ghost of Alpha Trion who guided him in sacrificing himself so Cybertron would not be destroyed... for another half a dozen episodes or so)
In the cartoon continuity, Optimus Prime was the rebuilt form of a robot named Orion Pax (War Dawn). His creator Alpha Trion described him as the first of a new breed, although several occasions in Season 3 would contradict this, notably including the montage of faces within the Matrix, representing past holders and other wise Transformers.
While inactive on Earth, Optimus had a near-death encounter in the form of the time-travelling Beast Wars Megatron. Saved from Megatron's assassination attempt by Rhinox's swift aid and Optimus Primal's assimilation of Optimus' spark, Optimus briefly awoke from stasis lock, before returning to his sleep, not to awaken again until 1984. Optimus Prime was the heroic leader of the Autobots for many years on Cybertron, succeeding Sentinel Prime as leader. As Cybertron drifted toward an asteroid belt, Optimus and his best followers launched a mission to clear a path for Cybertron, but after their ship was boarded by the Decepticons led by Megatron, Optimus opted to sacrifice the ship in an attempt to rid the universe of Megatron, and so he flew the ship into a prehistoric Earth.
Of course, it would have been a short series if this had actually worked, and so upon Megatron's reawakening, Optimus redoubled his efforts to stop Megatron. However, he was much less invincible than in the cartoon, and spend a little while dismantled by Shockwave, who sought to use the Creation Matrix that Prime carried to create new warriors, such as Jetfire.
Ultimately, Optimus Prime died, in a video game. Seeking a way to face Megatron without endangering innocents, Optimus consented to face Megatron in a virtual world. While he bested Megatron, he did so at the expense of a handful of the virtual world's people, and so chose to die himself, rather than live with the knowledge he comprised his ideals to win (Freedom being the right of all sentient beings covers little collections of 0's and 1's inside your computers, kids!)
However this was not the end of Optimus, who was rebuilt on Nebulos, and upgraded into a Powermaster, binary bonded to Nebulan scientist Hi-Q. His personality was restored from a backup disk kept from before his destruction. In this form, Optimus sought out his original body and the Matrix within it, for only it could defeat Unicron. Recovering the Matrix, Optimus sacrificed himself, flying down Unicron's throat with the Matrix in his hands, destroying the demon planet.
However, Optimus still didn't die - because of a quirk in the binary bonding process, Hi-Q and Optimus had become one in their minds. Ejected from Optimus himself before the final charge on Unicron, Hi-Q was seen as insane by G.B. Blackrock and the other Neo Knights stranded on Cybertron, until they located the Ultimate Warrior, the Last Autobot, who recreated Hi-Q as Optimus Prime (Action Master version).
Marvel's comics ended at this point, but two divergent continuities begin here - Fun Publication's "Classics" stories, and Marvel's own "Generation 2"
Unlike the cartoon Optimus Prime, the Optimus shown in the comics was a little less certain of himself, a less perfect though still strongly noble and heroic. | Dreamwave Overview
Optimus Prime started out life as Optronix, an archivist, until he was chosen to succeed Sentinel Prime as the leader of the Autobots. He began unwilling to fight the long running war, instead deciding to evacuate from Cybertron - however, a confrontation with Megatron, leading to several visions of what the future held, convinced Optimus that the significance of the Transformer race was far larger than a single world.
Optimus Prime and Megatron vanished in a Spacebridge accident at the start of War Within: The Dark Ages. The circumstances of Optimus' return were never revealed due to Dreamwave going out of business, but the direction of the story implies that Optimus was to have been a prisoner of the Quintessons on their homeworld of Quintessa, where the Turbomasters Flash, Boss, Hurricane and Scorch would have found and rescued him.
Optimus was dormant on Earth for 4 million years, before awakening and resuming his war with Megatron, until at the dawn of the 21st century the Decepticons were finally defeated. Tragedy struck, though, when the Transformers were set to depart for Cybertron when their ship, Ark-II, exploded. Optimus was recovered by a government agency and revived by Spike Witwicky when a terrorist cell led by a man named Lazaras recovered several Transformers, including Megatron. Optimus restored a crack team of Autobots and fought against the revived Megatron, culminating in a huge battle with Devastator in San Francisco, and the sacrifice of Superion to stop a nuke.
Cybertron returned to the fore in the next miniseries, when Shockwave, the supreme ruler of the planet, arrived on Earth and subdued members of both sides. Optimus, taken to Cybertron as a criminal, escaped and joined Hot Rod's rebel cell, fighting back against Shockwave with Ultra Magnus at his side. Optimus was badly wounded in this battle and left in stasis - where he would remain, as Dreamwave ceased publication before Optimus could be revived. | IDW Overview
Optimus Prime, the successor to Sentinel Prime, is the leader of one faction in a war spanning the vastness of space. Prior to his arrival on Earth, Optimus faced off against a zombie-like Thunderwing on the ruined Cybertron. Besting the goliath, Optimus made his way to Earth where he faced off against Megatron, who was trying to escalate tensions in Eastern Europe. Optimus was badly outmatched by Megatron and nearly killed, except he survived by downloading himself into his trailer. Optimus returned in time to defeat Megatron, who vowed to rain devastation on them all.
This near-death experience had a lasting effect on Optimus, as while he lingered in the "infraspace" between his modules, he sensed the dark presence of Nova Prime. Seeking answers, Optimus Prime contacted the legendary Transformer Omega Supreme, who provided Optimus with answers that shattered all that he knew and held dear about his heritage. | | | | Additional Optimus Prime Resources | | Notes Optimus Prime is considered by most to be the most well know figure in Transformers lore.
