 | | | | | | | | | I've been devoting the vast majority of my freetime the last several days (one day was spent doing nothing but sanding places) and he's all but complete. All the parts are downstairs letting their clearcoats dry. Tomorrow when I get home from work I will be putting him back together again and doing a full blown photo-shoot. I did a nice bit of detailing on him. I basically went the cartoon megatron route, but I didn't want to just make him totally bland as the cartoon had limits back then that they don't today (just like the toys themselves hehehe). All the gold paint aps from before are now red, as well as all the clear green parts are clear red, his toes are silver, and I even painted the molded stripes on his scope silver just like the G1 toy! I didn't do a sticker for his belly like a fellow board member did, but I did what I felt was every bit as nice by painting more detail than Classics Megs comes from the factory with. I only have this WIP shot for now that I took last night, but rest assured he has a lot more detail now than he even did then! Stay tuned for a nice sized lil gallery tomorrow! http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/4...tronwipxs3.jpg

Just looking at the hips/wings part - did you mask/spray paint the various areas? And how much of it did you actually disassemble? |

I got the clear plastic parts red by painting them with Testor's Clear Red paint. As for how much did I disassemble? You can see in the picture above that I left the waist and the one shoulder together, but every single piece else was taken apart. I ended up with 26 screws, plus 6 pins on the floor hehehe. I masked off the clear red parts when I painted the silver, and I had to do the same for the waist part. ALL of the black parts are from Dye. I even removed that lil connector in his back that snaps the wings in place for robot mode and dyed that black. I love it, cause that drastically reduced the number of places for wear.
Oh yeah, I also masked off the Decepticon symbol on his chest, so there's zero stickers on this badboy. I JUST got him fully reassembled, so expect to see pictures tonight! AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMS COMMISSIONS - PM WITH INQUIRIES

OK, I've shot robot-mode pictures. Once I reassembled him, I shot him up with another layer of clear-coat so that I'll be able to TF him and not worry about any chipping or wear, so I won't have alt mode pictures for a couple days. These aren't the best of pictures, I didn't do a full-blown setup as I normally would cause I was excited!
Full-body shot: http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/5...ontfulltm7.jpg
I painted up the fusion cannon/scope to look like the original toy's did, ie. dyed the tip black, and painted the silver stripes molded in it. http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/1...forearmlc6.jpg
The rest of him was done up more like the Cartoon. I dyed all moving parts black, but I painted his forearms red (which is actually both toy and toon accurate), and I also dyed the gun barrel black which is a nod to the full-on rifle mode of Megs. http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/7...pperarmbr2.jpg
I painted the little details of the back of the forearms red (the sides on the other arm as seen in the fusion cannon picture) http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3...forearmkh7.jpg
To bring out detail, and be more accurate to Toon Megs, I painted the detailing on both of his sides red, and you should also note that I detailed his chest to look toon accurate as well: http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/3...detailsbr5.jpg
I detailed his legs to be appropriately colored as well. Both Toon and Toy Megs had silver feet. Toon megs calves were all black, while the toy had red inner halves, so I compromised: http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3...detailslm0.jpg
I removed the lightpiping plastic and painted it with clear red paint: http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3668/headbackoh3.jpg
Here's the lightpiping at work: http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3...tpipingnl8.jpg
