I used a length of metal chain from the jewelery making department from a local craft store. The full chain was huge. Quote:

I cut the end links with my x-acto knife and pried it open just a little with a jewelers flat head screwdriver. I then [very carefully] hooked the cut [end] link to another link on the other side of the half circle as close as possible to the half circle to hold it as tightly as I could get it. I then crimped it with needle nose pliers.
It took quite a few tries thanks to my lack of fine motor control and the fine size of the links. In the end, however, it was well worth the effort. Quote:
