Menasor! WIP phase 9 (updated 9/06) - 100%

Category: Heavy Mods | Views: 5,294 | Replies: 167
After seeing REDLINE's kick ass version of Menasor when I first joined this board, I've always wanted to take a crack at one myself. I can't help it...I love combiners...the challenge the impose, the scale of them, everything.

I'm going to fix up the stomach area, and the arms will go slightly higher up (on the shoulders) so the shoulder joint hits about midway down the car's length.

Legs of prime mold fold back and upward giving wings/rocket booster-like shape.
Still thinking of how to do the feet, I am hoping to have the kibble on this gestalt form together in 'break-down' mode.

edit: it's late and i apparently went crazy with the electrical tape...lol

Phase 1

Phase 2

Sample of joint built:

Modding of Wildrider

Feet / Ankle close up (Phase 1)

Menasor Head Shot (Phase 1)

Pre-Paint shot

Motormaster Primed

AutobotX23 Digibash

Off to a great start!! Another masterpiece to look forward to!! I can't place the head, though. I love the part of his bio: an orgy of untargeted violence! FTW!

hi there, i just wanted to suggest that you consider using 1/60 scale gundam (not perfect grade) for the combiner parts as they are quite good value for money. here is an example. the fingers are individually ball jointed.

As far as what to do with all the combiner kibble, how about assembling it into a box shape and using it as part of Motormaster's "trailer?" Doesn't have to really look like anything, if previous TF trailers have been any indication. (or, you could build a styrene "shroud" that goes over all of it and becomes a shield for Menasor, I guess.)

Looks good, will be watching this one as it progresses

Btw, HLJ.com might be a good source for Gundam hands... they certainly do 1/144 & 1/100 scale, they might be worth a look for the 1/60s...

Hm, yes that is a common problem with HLJ. Shame because they're really good to deal with. The only other place i've used for Gundam hands before is this place - http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ - but that was ages ago, and Gundam hand kits do seem to go in and out of production in the blink of an eye. Good luck anyways...

Gundam hands are hard to find. I had a link to something a while back, non-HLJ, but now that I look they are sold out. Phooey.

They have all sorta crap though, electronics and such too.

BTW, looking good so far.

Looking very nice!

2 Quick Suggestions / Ideas:

1: Use primes legs (unfolded + fab feet) for the menasor Leg Fronts - it's close to the toon aesthetic.

2: Try to use 2 different mods for the legs (cla. Hotrod, or cyb. Wheelshift come to mind)

Anyway, looking for ward to see the final product what will be surely be one sweet custom!

About time someone else tries to make one! I mean, its been over a year since I made mine already. My only complaint about what you have here is he looks way to skinny, and he was a hulky/bulky 'bot. Are you going to modify Motormaster, or is he now a firetruck??

AHHH! looks so time consuming, I rather just go buy a gundam kit. plus that way, I get some cool fodder for later projects.

I'll be doing LOTS of mods to the 2 Sunstreakers...I think they will make great molds for this. Each with have their own bot mode also (Sideswipe version, then SS version)

I'm probobly going to go with the earlier suggestion of making the kibble combine into the trailer for MM, and then thicken up the waist and upper legs. (right now there's a spray can top for his stomach area lol)

mine too. i'm really not a fan of autobots in general. I mean, if you were a 30 foot robot, why bother becoming friends with humans?
