TFcon 2013 Saturday began in the bar, moved to the lobby, got real chatty about costumes and more, and finally took a dark turn.

okay, absolutely FRICKIN loved the cosplay talk. I learned mainly of robot cosplay when I was at botcon 2012 with Miraibaby, Natsumeryu, and Velocity. I went to savcon with them and then there was a-kon. I've been a spotter for both breakdown, knockout, and for WFC brawl. I even got into the cosplay scene with my gurren lagann right with all the insane amount of help Natsume gave me. I know how to build them and I know what its like to be a spotter and a cosplayer myself

robot cosplay is not easy at all, but its insanely fun and I absolutely adore it, I always have fun in my gurren lagann and never get tired of wearing him when I get teh chance, it makes me excited to start my next project for tfcon 2014, IDW Overlord

I agree. The cosplay talk is fun because I like to hear from people who spend long amounts of time doing costumes. How much dedication and time they put into them.

(Screw that Iron Man guy, though. )

I'm one of those unfortunate souls who really doesn't care for the Glacial bots. I see G1 toys when I look at them and that means I see a blocky unposeable brick. As an adult collector I have absolutely zero interest in bricks. I want dynamic poses of awesome designs. That is not what this is. I have a similar opinion for Code. It's awesome for those that dig this but I am definitely not the target audience.

I hope the Glacialbots catch on, because it would be really cool to see some more neo-G1 figures come out. I didn't manage to pick up a set at the con (Tusker sold out crazy fast) but I certainly wouldn't mind grabbing them later.

In particular, it would be really rad to see say, Arcee or Alpha Trion with a G1 style construction and aesthetic. Now, iGear did their delicate warrior, and Impossible Toys did their Alpha Trion, but they don't really feel like 80s Transformers. Hell, maybe they could even take some liberties with the designs, because let's be honest - most G1 figures weren't exactly show accurate.

And besides G1 characters that never got toys, I really love the idea of the Glacialbots creating brand new characters with altmodes that have never before been explored. Gobots was always a lot more liberal with their alt modes than Transformers was, and I'd like to see some G1 styled robots explore areas where they rarely go - such as limos, forklifts, steam locomotives, boats, submarines, blimps, buses, garbage trucks, small propeller airplanes...

For the longest time, I thought I was the only person interested in this kind of stuff, and people would look at me crazy if I said I wanted some new chunky bricks with no articulation beyond the arms.

Don't get me wrong, I love highly articulated figures too, but G1, Sentai and Brave prove that a toy doesn't need to be able to pose to be fun. Sometimes a big chunky robot with nice clicky joints and big pieces that lock together with a KER-CHUNK are all I need to give me some tactile satisfaction, but maybe I'm just easily entertained.

Making a third party toy of an original character is a huge risk, and making them G1 bricks is an even bigger risk. That takes a lot of balls. I'd love to support this.

Just for the record, you guys were mentioning Book club a lot when I wrote that. Glad the Question for Saints Row at least got answered before part 4 came out.

Also the Mass Effect theme of the questions came from this image and listening to your Vadiosonic Mass Effect podcasts.
