It was a stupid moment. If it was Miko, it'd be understandable. But Jack has been presented as a smart and clever human character, but that moment went against everything Jack's presented to be.

Bad character moment, Yadda Yadda Yadda.

He IS a teenager and a human. Some times in moments of weakness people do stupid stuff.

Yes Jack is cleaver and smart and that's why I like him for it. However he's also human and like every other human he has moments of weakness. It makes him more of a real person. This has been shown dozens of times. Would you rather have him be 100% perfect and be unrealtible?

Even though Vangelus mentioned it only once, I agree that Breakdown was a wasteful death.

He was only killed off because of Adam Baldwin and the fact they wanted the MECH/Silas plot. That's cool and all, but concidering that the plot only lasted one episode, it was a waste. Waste of Breakdown, waste of Silas. They could've easily did that plot with Nemesis Prime or a Vehicon and keep Breakdown alive, concidering the plot would only last one episode.

I think Breakdown's death was probably the point in the show where you could tell someone behind the scenes was telling the team to start condensing the story arcs.

I really feel like they had originally planed more for the character, still eventually ending in his death and tieing into the whole mech thing, but ended up having to cut it short resulting in a lackluster death.

One of the writers last year at either the SDCC or NYCC or any other interview they had last year did say that Beast Hunters was thrown at them at the last minute and that they had to change a lot of their original plans for seasons 2 and 3 to make way for Beast Hunters. If that's really the case then it would explain a lot of things about how Season 2 turned out like it did.

Hopefully we'll be able to get a Making of Transformers Prime book so we can read more about what happened behind the scenes there.

Great Primetime guys :D  however, i have to point out something: No one but Optimus could pick up the Star Saber, which was probably why Smokescreen didn't pick it up for them. Smokescreen already tried and it didn't work, back when they first found it. Which also raises the question of how they even got it on the Nemesis in the first place......

Actually, it wasn't that no one but prime could pick it up, it was more that originally when they found it in the rock it was generating some kind of force field that only reacted to a Prime. So no one was able to pull it out.

I'm pretty sure on it's own it can be picked up by anyone, much like the Forge.

Are you sure? they had to like move the mountain that it was stuck in to get it to move. if it worked like the Forge, then you'd think they should have been able to pull it out and beat people with it, they just wouldn't be able to use the giant slashy power slices.

Maybe there's just a random vehicon that's actually matrix-compatible, but no one cares because he's a vehicon haha

That was the thing, the force field it was generating was covering both it and the rock, Megatron actually says this in the episode. They were not able to separate the two. That's when Prime grabed hold of it the force field deactivated and the sword slid out of the rock.
