I agree, to a point. There's obviously cost cutting going on, that's obvious. Seth's visual assessments of the Generations Deluxes were right on.

That being said, there's a point where the negativity kind of became a bit to much. Both Seth and Gog admitted the Generations triple changer Voagers looked good, but they still came at them from a pretty negative view point. That's where the negativity went from reasonable to just over the top. If the figures look solid, then at least wait to have them in hand before you write them off as crap. I don't think that's an unreasonable request. Then there's Metroplex. The size and scale of that thing is insane, and not something I ever thought we'd see out of a modern Transformers line. Yet the crew still found a way to come at it negatively. Which is fine, but at the same time they really didn't acknowledge what is special about that the toy. Just the fact that it exists at all is worth celebrating, in my opinion.

I think a lot of people were legitimately excited about the news that came out of Toy Fair, and the crew kind of rained on the parade a bit. I agree, they are under no obligation what so ever to give everything a glowing review. They were spot on about those Deluxes. I honestly think the negativity was taken a bit farther then it should have been, however.

Anyway I'm going to defend FoC Grimlock. I really don't get how he could be seen as being worse then any of the individual Combaticons. As for the toy himself, the only real hallow part is his underside in t-rex mode, and I'm ok with that because that's where the t-rex head folds into for robot mode. In robot mode I find he's very solid.
Ideally I'd prefer if there was some kind of shell there, but I understand that cost cutting is a thing, so I appreciate the "tactical application" of the hollowness, if that makes any sense.

Geez, guys, they have a different opinion, let it go. Yes, usually this podcast is the more positive and optimistic show, and when they have critiques, it's always measured and thought out. They got warn down by what's been released by Hasbro lately, so they're a little more hesitant to throw out accolades for what's coming up. That's just how it goes. Telling someone they're being too negative, especially when they usually aren't that negative, isn't going to help anything. They're on the show to give their opinions, and sometimes it's not going to be the same as yours. Oh no!

For all we know they could have been in a bad mood when they recorded, or they had enough time from when they first saw the photos to when they recorded that they began to realize the possibility of these things coming up short. Who knows? Either way, cut 'em some slack, they're just sharing their opinions.

I have always tried to be honest with my opinions on this show, anyone get to What We Got section and I spent most of my time jerking off to MP Soundwave?

Maybe I could see the back of those deluxe but I have been collecting TFs long enough to where I can see things both good and bad that we have all see before and with that Megatron you can see gaps, empty space and enough to tell how flat he's going to be. I have hope Trailbreaker is going ot be good, I think of those 4 he has the best shot of being good with the others being average at best.

I wasn't shitting on anything for the sake of shitting on it and was basing everything I said the experience of being a TF collector on and off going all the way back to 84'. If that segment depressed you then good because some of what they have been putting out is depressing compared to what they have shown they are capable of. If you buy these things when they come out and love them and think they are the best ever then that's wonderful I hope you have a good time with them but know this, I'm not going to white wash my opinions on anything. If that's a problem then I'm sorry but it's the way it is.

That's all I have to say about that unless someone wants to adress me directly.

I haven't had any trouble getting her to stand. She doesn't have hight heels, just the sort of heels you would expect from boots.

why does everything have to be an argument?
The podcasters are entitled to their own opinions no doubt, that was never an issue. The only issue I see here is that for some (me Included) the negative tone of the podcast took away from it's entertainment value, so it being mentioned is to be expected. But then others see that and have to got super defencive and need to protect the podcast from criticism.

Just chill guys. Some of us just didn't like this episode so much.

Hey, I agree with you about those Deluxe figures.

Except that they aren't capable of what they were capable of during the Animated/Universe 2 years. I know everyone's tired of hearing about it, but the economy's hit the toy business hard. Hasbro's not sitting around going "how can we cut costs and make our toys shitty and hollow?" They are making the best toys they can given the resources available.

I know you (SethBuzzard) don't believe Hasbro's being malicious, but I just don't buy the "Hasbro is capable of more" argument. Yes, Bruticus and Grimlock would have been AMAZING back in 2009, but the company is not capable of creating toys at 2009 levels in 2013.
That being said I'll take a line from Vangelus. I can't blame anyone for not being into the current offerings from Hasbro.

Also I'm with Gog. I want some MTMTE Deluxe figures.

Exactly this! Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions. I just miss the team getting excited. I love hearing the team get excited and laugh.

Please though, don't stop what you guys are doing. It is your personalities that make this podcast amazing and make my days seem better!

Well, technically, Trailbreaker is an MTMTE figure. He's a member of the lost light.

It's not negativity. It's cautious optimism, as already explained in this thread, and the podcast itself.

All I'll say is that I prefer to hear real opinions over forced positivity.

Maybe I'll biased because I generally agree with Gog and Seth, though.

Agreed with most of the stuff said in the podcast. A lot of the Generations stuff recently has been disappointing. Not incredibly worried about Blitzving and Springer though.

    Because internet.

I still found it entertaining. I personally just said that I found the level of negativity toward the new Generations surprising.
Especially when the Beast Hunters reveals got more positivity by comparison. :lol

Whatever was happening around the Prime RID/ FoC wave 1 seems to have corrected itself given the quality and size of Grimmy, SW, and the very fun BH line. Personally I think the future looks really good for the retail line. I also really like the concept behind the IDW line as well, though they are not the characters I would prefer. Here's hoping this stuff sells well and Hasbro continues along this path.
One perspective missing on the podcast is that of parent. The Rescue Bots line has been really popular with my kids and friends kids, I'm glad to see more new stuff in the pipeline :)

    Much appreciated :)

All I want is a MTMTE style Chromedome. Him and the upcoming FoC Rewind are all I need, really.

As for the Deluxe Megatron, I'd be all over it if it were a Voyager. As a Deluxe it's an easy pass, unless it turns out that it pulls some Lockdown levels of faux mass shifting.

Eh, the Voyagers look very solid. Maybe I'm overly optimistic in general (I don't think I am) but I would think one would want to trust what they see and think the best until proven otherwise by an in-hand review.

Wow Im shocked to see some of you guys so hurt. I mean Im totally new here but have been listening since the beginning but some of you guys act like there talking trash to you personally. I dont get it?

I mean if the guys arent excited about certain figures and some figures they are excited about whats the big deal. Do they need to give you a check in every positive box to let you know its ok to buy a toy. I mean you guys all read reviews and see photos, judge for yourself.

I listened to this episode at work and enjoyed it all. I mean I think Gog said it best just have realistic views not every figure is going to be awesome. Again maybe Im stepping out of line here because I dont have alot of posts under my name, but seriously its going to be ok guys. As to the podcast crew, odd and even, keep doing your thing guys. I enjoy it all.

Apparently, given no one is really acting that way.

Some of us were surprised by the tone of the podcaster's reactions, some adamantly disagree with the opinions stated by them. That's all. Can we please stop this hyperbolic back and forth now?

That ratchet you guys were talking about, is it me or is that a blatant Dinobot homage?

I see it. I'm just not sure its intentional, rachet is a wierd choice of characters to slip in a Dinobot homage.

Oh I still found it somewhat entertaining, but yeah I agree with the above mostly.

Don't blame you for not having interest in the Play ARts ME figs..
Ashley looks like she's hooked on drugs, or was beaten by her boyfriend (who's not my shepard in ME, he can't stand her), and Broshep looks totally zombie like (pics of mine below):

Fortunately I was able to convince Unicron9 to take mine and work what magic he could on them. They WAY look better now!

I'm not going to even touch on the quality thing as that's a dead horse now, but regarding MTMTE figures: ...wait. I don't think it's unlikely that we'll get some of these characters, even though it may be later. Might be the last wave. Might be after the next movie. Maybe some third party will make some. But given how popular MTMTE is with the fandom and how people are becoming really attached to these characters, I think we're probably getting something eventually.

I know people are getting really psyched about the possibility of getting a Rung or a Tarn or a Swerve. Don't get your hopes up, but I also wouldn't write the possibility off, either. I would honestly be surprised if we didn't get an Ironfist, given the popularity of the character and the time frame we're working with.

Heck, I guess you could even consider the Wreckers\Ruination to be comic figures of sorts, even if they don't look much like the character designs seen in the comics themselves. Fans of Whirl will have a figure to pick up (albeit he is admittedly pretty disappointing.)

Oh, wow. It's pretty amazing how big a difference paint apps make sometimes.
