That was actually a good call, though.

I donno. For me, this whole Beast Hunters thing honestly feels like Aron Archer spent a weekend bingeing on Skyrim and then ran into the Hasbro offices the next day ranting about how awesome it'd be to have the Autobots fight dragons.

I would not be ashamed of liking Prime. Just because someone has an immense dislike of it, that does not mean you should predicate statements with 'One man's treasure' and such. Defend your position. It is easy to defend Prime while admitting to its flaws.

Probably, I can just imagine some dude coming into the offices after playing Skyrim and saying, remember we have this thing called Predaking? Also, I am completely fine with Predaking being one dude.

Beasts were forced on the writers to sell the product. Don't let the Predacon fanboys know though lol. This led to truncating the MECH and Dreadwing arcs. I am not going to buy many of the Beast figures. All the new characters + Soundwave (who has a new character).

Nah, seriously, I think blasting the writers who are under all sorts of duress is kind of silly. Hasbro is putting pressure on them so hard and probably yanking them around in multiple directions. If you want bad writing, watch Gundam SEED or Transformers Energon.

Also another note, Vangelus: I think Hasbro already knew by the time season 1 ended that Breakdown was not going to be produced. The writers also had to deal with Breakdown's death as well and Sylas. These things culminated into possibly a giant anti-climax for said characters.... idk. I mean you are a fan of the gunpla. You should have experience with UC Gundam. You should know how casually named characters get wacked with no build up what so ever. Dreadwing had an entire episode of build up compared to them lol.

That said, if you hate Prime, drop it. There is no use watching a show you hate. I don't do it. Neither should you. Do things that are enjoyable. Also, it is perfectly okay to love the toyline and hate the fiction. I find myself in that boat with many Movie figures. We have disagreements. I think that Prime is the first serious Transformer show done well. Beast Wars and Animated had humor to pad and uphold its weaknesses. Prime does not have that luxury.

Yeah, I can see that point. Without knowing the whole truth behind the scenes it may be unfair to hold it agaisnt the writers themselves. As far as we know they may be just as unhappy with how things have gone.

    I'm the same way.
I actually think a lot of the dragons look like cool toys. I just find the fiction of it rather silly.

I think Prime had the potential to be a serious TF show, but failed that in season 2.
I'd actually say when it came to BW and TFA the humor in those shows were their weeknesses most of the time. Early in BW the series was really slapsticky and odd. But then got really serious and dark later on. TFA was somewhat similar. I think when it comes to Prime the show's problem is that it's trying too hard to be serious without seemingly knowing how to actually be a serious show. It's just acting serious. If that makes any sense.

I think they might be happy with the finished result as the best they could do, and not the best possibility. For Hasbro to 'plan this all out' then yank the writers around at whim is silly. Give them the freedom to do their job. They will incorporate the toys as needed.

The comedy was needed in the shows to help levy spirits and to make the more serious points harsher in contrast. It is drama 101. You have comedy or gags to lighten the audience's mood then you strike them with some serious stuff. Even if was just a generic plot twist, the tone is set much harsher than in Prime's instance where such a twist would be just a shrug.

Also, there is a lot to the meaning of my name 'burningsirius'. Get it, serious, ha ha ha. I feel lame.

All I know is that this show has the potential to be absolutely amazing; the perfect cast; fantastic visuals; a medium that focuses the show into a smaller cast of characters (as opposed to a Hi-Bye type show). The only thing keeping the show from topping Animated and Beast Wars is the poor writing it seems. The plots of the episodes are just mediocre at best.

I still like the show, but I haven't been tempted to buy any of the newer figures in the least. I know it sounds too white knight-ish, but I do hope they have taken these criticisms to heart and season 3 will live up to its potential. But it probably won't. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst and all that.

    Maybe weirdly colored Drift head.

Just remember, you all cannot have your cake and eat it too when it comes to a tv show. You cannot have a ruthless Megatron and a Decepticon who is insubordinate survive (looking at Dreadwing).

Ultimately, this show might be suffering from a bit of Beast Machine's syndrome.

You know that feeling of dissapointment you felt when cliffjumper died within the first 2 minutes of the show? that feeling of all that potential just wasted for shock value?

That describes transformers prime as a whole for me

I'd rather watch transformers energon than prime now, at least that show was consistently bad, transformers prime, they set up so much good just to waste it and give you no positive payoff to everything they set up

I tried to love prime, but now i wished it would end, cause i am really not liking this show anymore

Completely false. That's using generic rhetoric to excuse poor writing when such statements are made. Generally speaking, of course.

I get all that. I just ment that the humor in those shows before were just really bad...And not all that funny, really. Especially the early BW stuff.
Prime actually had it's moments of humor, it just wasn't overbearing like BW or TFA.
Prime's problem isn't that it didn't have enough humor to balence out the seriousness, it's, like I said before, that the show is trying too hard to be serious with a poor narrative.

I am not a big Beast Wars fan. I never got into it when I was a kid. Yeah, I watched a few episodes, but they were all super corny. I think someone rose colored tinted glasses fan told me that Beast Wars Megatron was super serious all the time. I pointed him in the direction of the rubber ducky. He never responded to me. When I watched it as an adult, it suffered from hype backlash. It wasn't this ZOMG! LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL SUPER DUPER SHOW. It was just an okay show. It was no Legend of the Galactic Heroes or Mobile Suit Gundam. (Note the original Gundam is NOT Gundam Wing, I am just making sure since I have already gotten people confused)

Rhetoric is applicable when used properly. I used it properly so it has struck a nerve.

You have yet to provide this writing (outside of plot points, actual errors in dialog, clunky dialog, and so on) that spoils the entire show. Talk about making blanket statements. I have cited where the show dropped the ball or jumped the gun, but those points are not so bad that it has absolutely ruined the show for me. I knew Dreadwing was going to die when Patch aired. I brought my Dreadwing figure up to fiddle with him and topple him when he died. How did I know this? Foreshadowing? Was there a build up or am I a psychic? Your call.

I just don't run to TV Tropes to decry every trope used in Prime. If a trope is done right, who gives a crap. Macguffins, Deus ex, I hear these terms on here all the time as if Transformers should eschew the use of any plot device such as these even though Transformers has always heavily relied on such story telling methods. This is the reason why I hate TV Tropes. Everyone thinks just because TV Tropes made a snarky comment about a TV show on there and the usage of said trope that it is automatically bad.

Megatron knew that Dreadwing could not be controlled. What was Megatron supposed to do when Dreadwing said... "No". Talk him out of it? Plead with him? Dreadwing is just a dime a dozen to Megatron. A typical loyal soldier. He had no commitment to him. Starscream was an asset. Starscream made himself useful in Prime. I mean we can neck beard it up in here, but the simplest explanation is the best. Occum's razor or something like that.

I do admit it was anti-climatic. I just took it as Megatron being ruthless and got over it in 5 minutes. It was not a deal breaker for me. If it was for you, I understand. I have had to drop shows because of their derpiness.

I have watched a lot of crap in my time. This is not crap. It is well animated, directed and has right now a decent story with many plot points. Most of Transformers fiction is crap to most Transformers fans.

I should put up my motto, to be a Transformers fan you must hate everything that is Transformers.

Another suggestion for Gogdog, watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It is a critically acclaimed Shounen series. The artist's work have been featured in the Louvre. Also, it handles character deaths much better. Can you get attached to a character in 3 episodes and feel emotionally attached enough to care about his death? Watch it to find out. Also, once you start collecting JoJo figures, there will be no hope for you.... EVER. THE WORLD!!!!

Used it properly? I'm trying to be as unoffensive as possible, but you are basically arguing using common, every day cliches. "You can't have your cake and eat it, too." "To be a TF fan, you have to hate everything that is Transformers." None of it makes any sense. I spend hours every week literally glowing over my love for the brand. The fact that I didn't like a season of a TV show hardly means anything more than I don't accept everything in the brand as infallible. That is a childish insult with zero foundation.

There are many, many ways the writers could have gone to make things infinitely more interesting (IMHO, of course). We've spent literally hours upon hours discussing them on this very show. To explain such things away with a cliche is simply attempting to excuse something without justification. "You cant have your cake and eat it, too." I literally can't comprehend what point that is trying to make.

If your point is, "I like the writing, so your opinion holds no value for me," that's legit. Opinions are opinions. Mine is no more valuable than yours. But that cake statement is beyond ridiculous and holds no meaning on an objective nor subjective level.

You obviously feel very passionate about defending Prime. That's cool. I've certainly done it with other media before, myself. But to be honest, I'm over Prime. I just don't care. You can tell me 300 ways I'm wrong, and why I should care. But I'm over it. I've made my points, and I don't really care to state them again and again.

And after everything is said and done, that is primarily the problem with TFP as whole. For all the cool stuff that it puts forward, all the awesome characters and well done animation, It all ultimatly ends anti-climatically.

I know how you feel about the show, Burns. When it started I viciously defended it. I really liked the show and resented those who kept picking it apart with, what I thought to be, asinine criticisms.
But it's finally gotten to a point that I have nothing justifiably left to defend it as a well writen piece of fiction. The fact of the mater is that it simply is not. Could've been. Which makes it hurt all that much more. But it didn't end up that way.

I think so of the issues may be due to the expectations. We'd all love the show to be as well written and deep as Game of Thrones, but at the end of the day it's a half hour youth-targeted show.

I think overall it's been pretty good, at least as compared to other TF media. Sure there's been stuff to complain about, but damn near every show/movie has that. Realistic expectations help prevent disappointment. :)

Good episode though, and I hope season 3 improves things to keep Gog's interest. (And everyone else's.)

That's a fair point that does always need to be kept in mind when it comes to this sort of thing.
But even taking that into account, Prime still hasn't really handled its story telling quite as well as it could have.

I've enjoyed TFW Primetime for what it was, and I've enjoyed Prime for what it was. A children's show. But my feeling of the show echoes the host's opinion as well. Looking forward to some Book Club.

You are misunderstanding my points. You are just very upset. I am sorry if I am getting you mad. However, you have said the exact same things to me in a bit more pointed manner.

I look at series as wholes. Sure, you can evaluate the parts and see what comes up short we all can.

I also care about you. You seemed very upset and burned out. My original intention was to suggest to you other shows to get out of your funk. You seemed genuinely distressed. The fiction I have recommended to you will allow you to forget the pains of Prime that you have incurred and sink your teeth into either a great space opera or a nice good battle shounen series where thinking and logic are greatly valued. Plus the latter has awesome figurines that are being produced that are highly articulate. I myself am thinking about getting Killer Queen, though Purple Haze is awesome ;) .

My, 'you have to be a fan of Transformers' bit is a bit of fun, a jibe at the entire fandom. I was trying to levy the mood, letting you know that there are people who hate Beast Wars.

In so far as your opinion being valid, no I don't think you have made a strong enough case to me to completely drop the show. The gripes I have in my view are shared by you to some extent and I view them as minor glitches at best.

I am viewing your advocacy on the broadcast as, "Hey don't watch Prime here is why I don't" and let the viewer decide. When I come on here and say I am not persuaded, don't jump on me. You have been very passive aggressive. If you did not want your opinion to be analyzed, you should never of stated it.

I like having discussions. I like meeting with opposite points of view. I like seeing where conversations go. What are Prime's weaknesses? Surely you are the greatest advocate that the entire Prime series sucks. I think that it is a good series. Lets see where the flaws are. If they really spoil the show for most people? Is this trend going to be in the future or isolated to the now controversial Season 2? These are legitimate points of discussion.

Dude you're putting a lot of words (and apparently the role of "the greatest advocate") into the mouth of the one you're having a discussion with. Especially the notion of telling people not to watch Prime, when that wasn't stated in the episode as some kind of attempt to dissuade those enjoying the show. Asking someone to defend their viewpoint while asserting several parts of it on their behalf is the ugliest tone for a conversation. :/

Someone in the Podcast mentioned the possibility of leaving Prime Time because he only has negative things to say about the show.

I just wanted to say that even though I loved season 2 for the most even when I don't agree with all the negative things you've said about it I still enjoy listening to you. I think Prime Time would be boring to listen to if it was nothing but positive comments.

If you're leaving just because you don't think the Podcast is worth listening to with all your negative comments don't. If you still decide to leave Prime Time there's nothing I can really do to stop you. Even if I could I really wouldn't want to force you into doing something you're just not into anymore. I'm just putting my opinion out there in the hopes you would at least take it into consideration before you leave Prime Time.

Bolded for emphasis. It's why I try to keep my imagination from running wild with this show. If you build something up too much in your head, the actual outcome will disappoint most of the time.
