WTF Primetime - 37 - Out of the New Recrast - September 11 2012

I agreed with everything you guys said in this podcast. Prime has a lot of potential, wonderful animation, and good characters, but when it comes to the writing it needs to change. The "get a big plot point finished in 1-3 episodes" is getting old and I find it to be lazy writing. I used to not mind the relic hunts, but they are starting to get redundant now.

In regards to the red Energon, I thought it was meant to be a reference to the red unstable energon that supercharged Terrorsaur in Beast Wars

See with the guy who tried to imitate the rock left me wondering why we couldn't have got him for the first season instead of the rock so Cliffjumper could have stuck around..

I really hope season 3 has an over-arching story. not sure what it would be at this point, but it should really culminate in a drawn out battle, using the relics collected.

One thing I was thinking of with Bulkhead feeling he was going to get replaced, you mention "man up you're a wrecker." Which made me think maybe it's the fact that he IS a wrecker whom I assume has the same kind of mentality as the other continuities of "wreckers" have established (where they aren't long lived).

So perhaps the replacement mentality has something to do with that.
In terms of Wreckers we know:
Ultra Magnus Leads the wreckers.
Springer is part of them.
Wheeljack and bulkhead are former members? So were they replaced?

We've also got seaspray roadbuster, pyro, impactor, and rotorstorm mentioned, all of whom are dead.
So presumably unless ultra magnus and springer are the only members of the wreckers left, there are likely replacements.

So perhaps that mentality of wreckers members getting replaced rather frequently, is why bulkhead is how he is.

Or perhaps it's just a coincidence based on some writing that didn't actually consider this.

To me, it seems they' ARE trying to do an over-arcing story line. As it was revealed in Alpha, Omega (SPOILER ALERT) alpha trion sent all of those relics to earth because he knew optimus would be there. He wanted to help optimus in a final battle with megatron. Everything, all the relics, the omega lock and keys, the star sabers, the shifting of balances in power, seems to be pointing in a direction. It seems the season finale might spear-head it all. Kinda like how the first season of Beast Wars seemed kinda tied together episode by episode until the finale tied it all together. Hopefully, all the relics will come together to form an epic final battle or a revalation of some sort.
