Anyone that had difficulty with the Kiss Play segment, blame Japan they started it.
The Drell wrecked there own planet, then they go to the Hanar planet where they pay back the Hanar's hospitality by getting Kepral's Syndrome and becoming a healthcare burden. I have to spend a game listening to one go on and on and on about how he's dieing and then he doesn't even bother to die from it. THEN while waiting for him to finally kick the bucket his weird ass kid is praying to there goofy fish god to help me like he knows me. Like Shepperd needs the help of some soggy mythological figure.
Interesting, thanks for the heads up.
I would have to listen back to that segment to remember exactly what we said and how we said it but yeah and link to Botcon and what happened to AA would have been conjecture in an effort to understand decisions and actions that have been made recently and how they could end up effecting other shows.

Since it came up again during the podcast...I've gone to the past three SDCCs and will be going back again this year. It is a fun experience, but yes it's a shitton of people crammed into the Convention Center down there milling around and you spend more than half of your time (depending on how much bouncing around you do) waiting in line to get into the next panel or to get to buy a certain exclusive from Hasbro or Mattel or whatever.

I think it's worth it to do it at least once in your life but if you're terribly impatient and/or hate large crowds it may not be a thing to do several times. I live in California (about two and a half hours from San Diego) and have a friend in the area I can stay with rather than shack up in a hotel, so I'm able to avoid certain pains in the ass compared to others that make the trip.

It really is "Nerd" Disneyland in terms of amount of stuff to do, amount of time waiting in line for crap and the onslaught of people that are there each day.

Good listen guys. I'd love to see you guys post pics for your off topic stuff.

Also, Vangelus, if you bring that game to Botcon how do you play it with both Americans and Canadians?

Only part way through listening to the show and loving it so far. Thought it was worth me posting though to answer a couple of points...

First, I want to support Pete's comments about Botcon / Fun Pub in relation to what happened with our comic. We had been working closely with IDW for some time and apart from a few people on the Auto Assembly team, our cover artist / colourist, John Barber and his team at IDW and the relevant people at Hasbro, the existence of comic was kept pretty much under wraps as we wanted to keep it a surprise.

We did announce it vaguely on our website as being part of our goodie bag, but nothing apart from the fact that we were going to have one so I think I'm probably right in saying that the first thing Pete and the rest of the FP team knew about our 2012 comic was when we made the announcement about its cancellation so I think people should give Pete and the guys at FP a break on this.

In terms of what happened, there's usually a three stage process for exclusive covers. Once we have the creative team in place we have to come up with the cover idea, pitch that to IDW (sometimes with a rough sketch) and that has to be approved by Hasbro (as they do with all the "regular" comics. With our two previous exclusives Hasbro had to approve the concepts and the finished artwork before we could get both books into print and we had to work within set guidelines to make them acceptable.

This time, we discussed a lot of ideas for what we wanted on the cover and involved John Barber in all of this to make sure that we could do what we wanted. We brought in Marvel UK artist Jeff Anderson to keep the "old school" Marvel style and even replicating the old character box on the cover and IDW even loved the dual number idea. Everything was ready to go, we had the cost sorted out, shipping quotes, publishing dates... pretty much all of it sorted and we were ready to make a public announcement pending a final approval from Hasbro (as IDW need to run everything past them)... and then the comic was pulled without any reason being given as far as we know.

It's been frustrating for us as it would have been our third officially licensed IDW comic (following on from 2009 and 2010) and has resulted in 1,000 lost sales for IDW. John Barber was fantastic in his help for us with trying to make this happen and he was just as disappointed as the rest of us. We weren't going to be making anything on this comic as we were going to be giving them all away to our attendees so the only people who lost out were Hasbro for their income and IDW for the immediate sales and potential knock-on sales from people who may not have bought Issue #81 apart from getting this free issue.

As for our own comic... at the moment it's 24 pages long (more if we get enough stories written beyond the strips we already have) and is still going to be free but we want it to be something special for our attendees. We don't want them to miss out on a comic this year and we think that everyone will enjoy what we are going to put together.

Eh, I'd say it was a great choice for an emoticon. :D

Also, +rep to the podcast for referencing those teacher threads is GD, even if by coincidence.

I mistook the (what I assume is) Autorooper picture for one of the good guys from Tomica Hero Rescue Force, I'm kind of glad it wasn't.

Man it's very sad when going into threads about the Vehicon and people become downright offended when suggested to show some restraint to only get one at a time. There are a number of people who seem to be taking joy in their desire to deprive anyone else from being able to find these figures.

Also, ass-less chaps are never wrong.

Thanks again Vangelus and crew, what a very nice Birthday surprise to have my question answered on the podcast 3 days before my birthday (as of the recording date). Good timing/bad timing, too bad it came after such a great and hilarious question about Kiss play. I've bought my Legion Vehicons one at a time at ten different stores. I eat my celery with Cheeze Whiz!
