Gotta admit, it felt a little too fast for MECH to already have a fully built Nemesis Prime, but that's probably a case of the writers moving things quickly along like they do (despite the slow burn they've been using for MECH overall). Like you guys said in the podcast, we don't know how much time has passed between episodes too, so maybe it's been a few months. Great show, as always!

Great episode! Perfect thing to come home to hear after a particularly stressful test. :)

For the record, they first used the soldier model in Convoy.

Combat experience, nothing. The only way the power of Nemesis Prime can be explained is if Silas is the most hardcore competitive gamer on the planet. Which is exactly what I choose to believe. His score has got to be like 5 billion in Car Racing, the only video game this reality has to offer. MECH probably recruits its soldiers through this very videogame, much like The Last Starfighter.

And if Raf becomes the next leader of MECH because he got the second highest score, I will apologize to everybody for spoiling Season 3.

I didn't know Jeff could play the Drums (that is Jazzy Jeff isn't it?) and he's the closest thing to a Celebrity Transformers fan, unless you count light weights like Tom Hanks or the old showbiz friends of Scatman Crothers who maintain a polite interest despite being anything up 90 years odd..

I'm certainly not going to put Michael Bay, Steven Spielburg, and the like on that list as you can never be sure what they say isn't just publicity hype.

If I see a proper celb with rooms full of G1 bots then I'll believe it !

I wonder why Nemesis Prime is so Rusty ?

With an Animated writer helping out recently, who else thinks they may homage or recreate the 'Prowl vs. Starscream inside Omega Supreme's Mind' scene with Silas and Breakdown?

Regarding Bulkhead's fall, because of his size he and the car should have fallen at the same rate. So yes the animators did cheat.

But the principle of one character falling faster than the car is completely valid when you remember air resistance. If one object has more surface area, for example the bottom of a car, compared to another, for example a humanoid in a diving pose, the object with less air resistance falls faster.

So if Bee had jumped off and done the same pose that Bulkhead did, he would have gotten to the ground faster than the car because air resistance wouldn't have slowed him as much as the car. Or to put it another way, an objects terminal velocity is dictated by its air resistance.

But Bulkheads minimum air resistance profile is roughly the same a car's, so yes the animators did cheat. They just didn't cheat how people are thinking they did.

Regarding the human army soldier. His model was the exact same as the one seen in the episode Convoy. He was on board the train and taken out when MECH electrified the train.

And on the topic of the army base:
    • Jeeeeeeeeeeeeep! (i.e. potential Hound/Swindle/Wingnut vehicle mode)
    • Yup, the copters were the same model as the ones in Crisscross.

This was my least favorite episode of season 2; maybe even of the entire series. It was just...blech. The only part I enjoyed that much was the ending reveal.

Personally, I didn't mind Miko in previous season 2 eps, but something about her delivery in this ep was annoying to me.

"Or maybe he's been bad all this time but faking it!"

It's essentially the same line as her last season's "Optimus was a Con?". But like I said, maybe it's the delivery or something, but it annoyed me.

    ---

As for Silas... yeah, this ep was very "cartoon". The line where Silas said that the big difference was that he couldn't feel pain? Maybe if they showed Prime managing a solid stab or slash on Nemesis before Nemesis stabbed him back, I could have suspended my disbelief. Then it could mean that Silas was fighting in a fearless kamikaze style. But as is, Silas just seems like a bit of a Marty Stu.

    ---

They probably just didn't have time to build and animate a neural net type thing? But that really hurt the last part where Silas got back in the saddle but couldn't do anything to Optimus. Considering Silas blocked that initial attack and got back into the setup, there was no reason why he couldn't just pick up where he left off. Unless of course, the non-existent neural net was not re-calibrated.

Oh wait, if the control setup was based on Super Robot technology, that would explain everything. When Silas went back to the controls, his mind was unfocused and he was panicky. He lost his confidence and BURNING GUTS. This adversely affected his piloting skills thereon.

The pornographically slow transformation, "I am...and I deliver you this message," and blowing shit up at random immediately made me think "Movie Optimus!" I now really want a Nemesis Prime toy at SDCC with a nice deco. Hell throw in the little Silas figure too from that Bumblebee/Starscream two-pack.

I've got an "I'm surprised you didn't mention," except I'm not really surprised. So Wheeljack has been based on Earth for two episodes now, and we haven't seen sword nor grenade or him. I guess he's kind of pulling a Tigatron and just showing up now and then, but I was half expecting he'd be a more regular cast member.
