That wasn't the first time Starscream's blaster was used. It was seen in one of the DR episodes and in Sick Mind.

Yeah, he's definitely used range weapons before that weren't his missiles, so maybe we're just now getting closeups of it.

That is correct. It was used in the standoff on the Nemesis in Darkness Rising Part 4, and at least two other times I recall from when I rewatched Season 1 on DVD(Sick Mind being one of those two uses it seems).

Oh well, I guess as long as you don't expect her to act like a Blackarachnia the name doesn't really matter.

(I listened to the whole podcast before posting this, I just find the tendency for people to mix the two up amusing.)
