With regards to TF gender...

I tend to follow the cartoon continuity, and in that the Transformers were made as servants/warriors/slaves by the Quintisons. I had always assumed, given their rogue trader nature, that the Quints created and sold TFs for a niche market, and therefor a variety of species would be after different types of TFs to reflect their culture - thus we end up with different genders, builder/fighter types etc.

I've never really understood the big fuss about it, really LOL

Hadn't heard much about this until just now. Took at look at that interview. Holy shit. Sorry Vange1us, but I'm with Aaron with the black Rodimus. Those colour make me dizzy... I mean, they just decided to slap on some disgistingly unmatching colours randomly on that mold. (no offence to the people who like this toy, its just my personal opinion).

On the subject of girl transformers:

Once I wrote up a quasi-fanfic-ish retelling of the Transformers origin story that used a bunch of wild and crazy sci-fi concepts like technological singularities, transhumanism \ brain uploading, a gray goo scenario, dyson spheres and alien-controlled evolution and somehow managed to slap all the various transformer origin stories together and somehow made everything make sense, in a blow your mind kinda way. Maybe I'll post it on the fanfic forum or something, it's kind of long and convoluted.

To make a long story short, the sexual dimorphism exhibited by Cybertronians is merely vestigial. In other words, the different genders are basically leftover from their organic origins and don't have much of a purpose anymore. And they look like humans because spoiler: they have a common ancestor.

Granted, that completely flies in the face of established cannon, but who cares it would be cool.
