I've checked the FTP and everything since July seems to be missing. Will re-upload when I can but a lot of that is on external hard drives now.

Haha, cool you used my hastily slapped together Med Men Prime picture.

Got me thinking, when was the last time the show picture had a Transformer of any kind in it?

That last question takes me back. I don't recall the specific date, but I joined TFW when it was still part of Transfandom. I was only a member for about a month before TFW split off from them. I tried to stay active on both, but that only lasted about a week. lol

I was introduced to the site, by a guy I used to play Phantasy Star Online with. Which is also where my name came from.

While I was on my nostalgia trip, I found the old RIP Transfandom thread from four years ago. So much nostalgia. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-general-discussion/153237-rip-transfandom-com.html

i support Q-dog on the podcast again :)  that was one of my all time favorite podcast, it was fantastic

and for that final listener question:
i grew up on beast wars at the age of 4, beast machines put me off, and i saw some of RID but wasn't really into it, just really like sideburn. Now it was Armada that got me interested in transformers again

lets go to 2003, a local wal-mart had for sale for $5 a vhs copy of the 1986 movie, so my dad bought it for us boys to show us how the original transformers were. Lets just say i was blown away, i loved that vhs tape, i have worn it out, i still have it around here somewhere. i saw that movie at the PERFECT time, cause who showed up in armada shortly after my viewing of the movie? unicron. i knew who unicron was, and had to have the toy, even if my little brother underminded me to get it for christmas (still want to punch him for that :lol  )

but anyways, fastforward to the next year when 20th anniversary optimus prime came out, me, being excited, was like "oh my gosh! its the original optimus prime!". that toy would become the most coveted thing for me that year, i would spend hours in wal-mart just drooling over it. Oh boy that christmas was something else! i spend hours just playing with him. now, at this time while i was excited for that optimus prime, star wars episode III was coming out that following spring. I have always been a star wars fan, even as a child, so transformers took a backburner for a few months, so much i packed away everything, including that optimus prime, and focused on star wars.

lets fastforward to two weeks after the release of episode III. I felt done with star wars, just wasn't as excited as i was. I was going through my toys and i decided to unpack the transformers, first thing to come out was 20th anniversary optimus prime. Curious, i started to look up transformers. I would find this site and begin to lurk and read any bit of transformers information i could, i was hooked. I spent countless hours just watching the 4 different american g1 intros over and over, just because its all i could find at the time. I lurked for years, when alternators were around and ending, when classics were revealed! oh i was so happy during that time, finally i could have the original characters! my first one was classics megatron, my mom got it for me because i was sick. I would go on to get all the main like classics outside of jetfire, and boy do all of my classics have play wear :lol

heck, no transformer has had more playtime than my 20th anniversary optimus prime, i took him everywhere when i went away, that toy is why i am here today.

the first bit of g1 fiction i ever saw that wasn't the g1 movie was the two parter "the return of optimus prime". a blockbuster had an old vhs copy from the 80's and for $2 we rented it for a week. i watched that special over 20 times that week.

Prime still stands in the corner of my room, never to be parted with or forgotten. I don't care what you say, that mold is one of the most playable transformers figures of all time, i have proof of that

i finally joined in march of 2009 cause my parents finally let me join an internet forum, they were just being protective, and here i have been since, almost 9,500 post later in 2 almost 3 years, my collection getting close to 400, having a pratically complete classics collection, finally scoring that missing jetfire earlier this year thanks to a fellow tfw member.

it was transformers and tfw2005.com that got me REALLY using the internet, and why i am into super sentai, kamen rider, doctor who, vocaloid, tons and tons of different animes, the new thundercats, and more.

    thanks for being awesome tfw2005

In terms of how the fanbase of Thundercats will be, perhaps a closer analogue than Bronies would be Avatards? Or perhaps even Beasties/Beast Wars?

They're all good shows, and TC's a good show as well. But I find the fan base are rather forgiving of the faults in the show. Which is fine. As long as one enjoys a show, there's no point in nitpicking. But it's hardly the bestest cartoon of 2011. At this juncture, I would rate TF Prime or even Young Justice noticeably higher than TC (not counting stuff like Adventure Time or Venture Brothers or Archer etc).

Aaaanywho, good show. Putting listener questions in the middle seems to be working out for youse guys.

1/4 of the way through this Podcast and I too would like to see/hear Qdog on the Podcast again, though I am a little biased seeing as though I am a strong proponent for the licking of Koalas. :D

I had heard of TFW since I got into the fandom back in 07 (I think TFWIRe was where I first heard the name), but didn't start using it until I started listening to your podcast, which was spurred by my admiration of a web series called "Plastic Addict." You may have heard of it, it's pretty obscure.

The idea that the TCats fanbase will be even remotely like the FiM fanbase is absurd. I can tell you that right now from browsing the FiM thread on a daily basis. And I'll certainly admit, while I do consider myself a brony (kind of, the extent of my fandom involvement is drawing one bad fanart picture for laughs), the fandom has its crazies and even outside of the crazies, some pretty ridiculous phenomenon (No, I don't care how good you say it is, I'm not reading a fan fiction called "Past Sins" based on a COMEDY show). But yeah, if anything like that happens with the new Thundercats, the appeal is so much more broad that it'll be shoved into the background much more easily.

Also, Q-Dog was awesome. Moar please.

I think Airachnia is loosely based on an RAH-88 Comanche helicopter so she wouldn't have any skids.
http://www.minihelicopter.net/RAH66Comanche/RAH-66 Comanche.jpg Thought to me she looks like an Action Man toy when I first saw her.

Since I used to chat to Bob Skir quite a bit and this was something that came up I can guess that the line Van's talking about at 1:12 was probably the line similar to this ; "When the Transformers came to Cybertron" implying they were from someplace else.

The method Gogdog mentioned for loosening up Thundershred's claws is actually pretty decent. I'm still going to be really careful with my claws though...they haven't broken yet but I'm starting to see a stress mark on the base of one of them. Thundershred is probably the FP insecticon I'm going to play with the least. Hopefully the accessories for the other guys won't be as fragile since they don't seem to plug in anywhere extremely tight.

Bandai American Power Ranger Collectors in USA = Disappointed.
Bandai America Power Ranger Collectors in Canada = Distressed.
Bandai American Power Ranger Collectors in UK = Suicidally depressed.

I only buy Power Rangers Megazords and Transforming figures it's so bad in the UK that aside from the odd import in TK Maxx I've barely seen any "Power Rangers Megazord" in the UK since Ninja Storm Megazord - they never sell the power up zords or the ones that show up half way through the season and in general if your very luck you might get the main one - "Maybe" in TRU - which is fine if the nearest one isn't 48 miles away from you.

So I used to be able to buy every MegaZord and every power up zord and as many figures as I fancied with only the odd one getting missed out like Lightspeed OmegaMegazord then boom it hits Ninjastorm and the whole line vanishes - it probably didn't help that one of the few places you could buy them was Woolworths either.

So all i've got since then or seen is the odd One in TK Maxx or a Mystic Force dragon I got at a car boot sale.

Where as up till then I was an enthusiastic collector - I was able to buy all the Ultra Zords and such no problem.... I could walk into a store and just buy Pyramidus for example.

I think I knew things were on the slide though when I was thinking do I really want to pay £80.00 for a Revolver elephant when I've got no room to display something that huge. and I think the dinosaur Japanese ultra dionsaur power animal (zord) was going to cost £140.00 with shipping. (basically as much as a Japanese TF2000 Brave Maximus would have cost)

So Now I'd just limit myself to any Japanese Black repaint and pick them up after some kids finished with them at a car bootsale.

So way worse than America or Canada - and it's not like there's even a lot of choice of collectable stores to buy them from either as imports.

So I look at Thundercats and I can but hope it gets at least something like the coverage Ben 10 gets otherwise I might never even see a 4" figure - I certainly hold out no hope of seeing any classics figures at all. and I might even have problems with the deluxe 5"ish figures.

Besides why isn't Grune Bigger (like Apocalypse or the Hulk is from Hasbro ?) he cost double nearly and he's almost the same size as Lion-O.

Where as when I look at my Hasbro figs I see Apocalypse or Iron Monger next to Indiana Jones I wonder why the more expensve figures don't = bigger characters. I don't want them making the Snowman the same size as Tigra that would be silly. I want him big and meaty.

    --

I'm glad TFW2005 is still here it's handy to have a site that does not go and die on you like The original Allspark or Axalon Underground did which is where I used to mostly hang before they imploded so TFW's rise filled that gap nicely after those site implosions. Thought I used to hang at BWTF.com and Bigbot.com and alt.toys.transformers before or during TFW2005's early days.

I pretty much started looking sites up as I wrote to Hasbro in the mid nineties asking for info on the new Beast Wars line and they actually sent me some pages of scanned Beast Wars character bios from BWTF.com in the mail (which was quite nice of them). so that made me look the site up so I've been following along online during the whole Beast Wars era and beyond. which I suppose more or less corresponds to the rise of the home computer/internet thing in general in the mid nineties. Though back then I was also interested in Babylon 5 & Aliens as well so they were other things I was following then.

I do remember it was quite common back then for places to lead you around the "ring" so you'd get invited to go and look at Unicron.com or such when you went to another site.
