Given what Vangelus has proposed in the past with Movie Prime going nuts and destroying the Earth, I now have the urge to get Ultimate Prime, put every clip and Mechtech weapon I own on him, and start referring to him as the "We will kill them all!" Prime! It will be glorious! :bay

Oh, and seriously, you need to watch Firefly. I had been putting it off for years, but had a couple days at home with just my 4 month old daughter this past week and started it. I watched the first 11 episodes in one sitting, and finished the series up and watched Serenity the next day. If we ever have a boy, I now think I will name him Jayne!

Do you think Randy Savage would make a good persona for a transformer character?

I'm pretty sure Ironhide was meant to sound South African. It's that perfect blend of American and English pronounciation of the vowels that only the South Africans can really pull off.

    Update Time

161 hasn't been edited yet mostly due to a lack of time on my part. The week during + after recording it, my Macbook was primarily donating most of its processor time to helping my friend Jacob assemble the first rough cut of his short film Ballerina. And I was (and kind of still am) hardcore fretting over and planning a possible large change to my living situation for the next year. I hope to get it put together (along with 162) while in transit to and from Seattle this PAX weekend, but even if I get it done on the way there I am not holding out to get ahold of an internet connection long enough to upload both copies of the episode. :(

Many apologies for the delay. On the bright side, you'll get 2 episodes very close together! On the brighter side, we got a cool dude from the other side of the planet co-hosting on ep161! And I talked about my hardcore rare SDCC Ashley Wood toy in 162, but I am not sure if everyone else sees that as a bright side.

Thanks for the heads up, man! Really looking forward to both podcasts.

Also, will you be doing Prime Time for the newer episodes soon, or will you be holding off until they air on the Hub in delicious HD?

3 Hours so I guess 1 hour of that is them talking about something other than Transformers - as usual. I guess I'll have to listen in with a stop watch - Bwhahahahhh ! (ahem)

When I think of South Africa my first thought is not of Nelson Mandela or rugby etc.. it's Paige from Babestation - Laugh.

I personally like the off-topic discussion because it makes it more interesting. I know it's a Transformers podcast but it gets kind of boring when it's ALWAYS 100% Transformers. At least now I know where the new episodes are. I've been waiting (im)patiently.

I too want to know if Prime Time will be done for the Teletoon broadcasts or if we will have to wait for The Hub to air them to hear Prime Time (I hope it's the former).

I've said this before but I think there's an argument to be made to remove or drastically minimise all the off-topic completely and instead do another podcast (perhaps with slightly different crew who have that different knowledge and interest) to reflect the other fragments of the TFW family so then releases of Marvel, Thundercats and other general toys can be gone into in greater detail.... a "Toy Ark" podcast if you will then discussing what Star Wars Figures or Marvel figures someone got makes so much more sense. I have heard a few people mention that they find the discussion of Kaman Rider especially off putting as it's so niche and most of the audience won't have a clue what they are on about or especially care to.

I'd even further suggest that part of such a sister-cast would be nice to have a retro line mentioned and discussed each time things like Silverhawks, Starcom, Airaiders, Visionaries, M.A.S.K., COPS, Secret Wars.. that sort of thing.

If the podcast on Transformers moved it's Off-topic discussion to a sister-cast then this allows perhaps other segment ideas to be brought in for times when there's less news like perhaps a retro-subline discussion of the broadcast - like pick a subgroup.

Another idea might be a book club like idea where people are asked to watch a specific cartoon episode then listen to the discussion or contribute questions.

In essence there's a lot of way the podcast can go that does not involve talking about sideshow collectables for 20 minutes each time.

Now maybe the podcast simply need renaming or broadening - but personally I'd rather it was narrowed down to just Transformers as much as possible. or any off-topic discussion was kept under 20 minutes or so.

I do enjoy 'Prime time' so kudos for that. but I am certainly an individual that finds to much off-topic discussion a little off-putting especially when there's often like nearly an hour of it and this is supposed to be a Transformers Podcast after all.

I'm criticising a bit I realize but I don't mean it in a nasty way.

    ----

Anyway it seems mute this time as for some odd reason I can't get the MP3 to play anyway.

The last time this came up, we took a poll. 88% said they wanted us to leave it exactly as it was. We can't please everyone. And making another podcast at this this time is completely out of the question.

It would appear the mp3 link in the first post doesn't work. It doesn't on my end, at least.

There's Hundreds of people on this board who says only Vangelus has to produce it or the same people have to be in it ?

Unless everyone in TFW's podcast is coincidentally also are an expert on Thundercats ?

Further more it's quite likely there's periods of time where they won't be a cartoon so a quarterly "Toy Ark" ones seems like a good idea to me especially with all the Marvel Movie toys that are floating about at any given time as well as the Marvel Universe stuff.

TFW has many Photostaff people - so why should it only have Podcasts made by Vangelus under it's Banner / or only Transformers ones when there's 3 other subjects under the network ?

Anyway maybe I've just been talking to the 12% but when I was talking about it to other folks they all said they thought the Kaman Rider stuff was to much and that they didn't like the excess of Off Topic.

I get the impression it's ballooned to a much larger portion of the show than it was ever intended to be.

And looking at many of the other Youtubers and Video Reviewers I did notice that the majority concentrate on Transformers and it just happens to be coincidental that the most "appreciated" or "Prolific" ones also do lots of reviews for non-Transformers related items.

Which is not a criticism i'm just speculating that the majority on the board who review toys seems to review only Transformers (judging by their Youtube channels). which makes me think that they would therefore only have a main interest in Transformers. So perhaps unlike some people I usually know vaguely a bit about what off topicness is being discussed.

It just so happens that I personally do take an interest in or actively collect other lines myself too - Marvel Universe / Iron Man / Thor / Captain America toys for example as well as having a huge number of retro toys (to many to list even just the lines).

So that was why i'm not standing here throwing stones at the off-topicness and I do not wish to give the impression I'm hatting on things for not being Transformers i'm just saying that conversation on things other than Transformers is perhaps something that needs to be in it's own place... like the "The Toyark" , Gi Joe or the Thundercats part of the network.

If for example someone thought it would be a good idea to bring together a group of people as fond of and knowledgeable as the Thundercats board can supply and make a podcast around the new toyline or something equivalent to Prime time but for Thundercats new cartoon episodes then I would not be saying that as I thought the current podcast was wrong - I guess I'm just seeing the logic in it getting the same attention that Transformers Prime does when there's a Thundercats board as part of the network so clearly displayed at the top of this page.

Further more I know of another place that has very little to do with Thundercats that has done this sort of Thundercats coverage and isn't even in the USA or Canada where the show is airing or part of a network specifically naming itself as a Thundercats site.

I personally feel this site family has to continue to provide content to keep people coming back and involved and that's what I'm suggesting - expand the family a bit so Podcasts don't have to be Vangelus' baby alone and can be on other subjects besides Transformers from time to time too especially when there is a current cartoon or toyline directly related to that segment of the site family - namely Thundercats & Gi Joe (and even a fair few Marvel related Cartoons an Movies too).

I feel it's only fair after all if the people talking about the subject in question have that subject as their primary or one of their main interests be it Gi Joe, Transformer or Thundercats etc... and that they have knowledge of the subject they speak on.

I feel it's at least worth asking if someone wants to do a Thundercats Podcast for the Thundercats network - especially if they can also edit it as I'm sure it could only help attract more footfall to the site and also more sponsorship. ?

Just some thoughts anyway - 'Not an attack'. just constructive criticism of how I feel the family can be kept dynamic and interesting and expanding what is already good to other areas.

I don't want anyone to think I don't value and appreciate the work that goes into the podcasts just because I might not always feel the full merit in the possible excess of off topic discussion that sometimes gets a bit OTT.
