Yup! I mean, you have been already excluding yourself from WTF contests on those grounds already. Might as well make it official.

    SWEET. Wait... what? Excluding?

Doesn't matter. WTF@TFW is awesome. Way better than beating up kittens in a paper bag.

My piece of advice for Botcon to save money on food....

If you are able to drive, bring a cooler and ice. You can refill it with the ice machine from the hotel :)  Go to a grocery store and stock up on food (mostly breakfast stuff) and drinks or simply bring it with you. Pack a sandwich for the day. You will save a lot of money that way.

If you can't drive and can find a ride, you can still buy a disposable cooler for pretty cheap (or maybe your room has a fridge??) :2c:

ORRRR...... just bring some Tac Bac :D

Wow man your definition of middle of the country varies drastically from mine then. Kentucky is classically Midwest or maybe South, Ohio is definitely Midwest. The unfortunate truth of the business is that they need to put the convention in locations that have a dense population or short travel time to there. The Hartmans came back to Fort Wayne time and again, not just because it was in their backyard, but because it was within a day's drive of a large part of the US population.

Sure I would love to be able to take a 20 minute drive to every BotCon but it isn't going to happen. You just gotta suck it up, buy an airplane ride, and make a vacation out of it.

Just listened to this on the plane ride out to CA. I was a dealer in '08 and I took Paypal payments. So it's not an entirely new concept.

Just talked with the Pasadena Sheraton, the bar area is 21 and over only but the restaurant area next to it is open for all ages. As for a TFW Meetup, I was thinking the Yardhouse across the street on Thursday. Plenty of alcohol, space and people who can't or choose not to drink won't be left out.

I went to the Yardhouse twice in 09' once for lunch and again dinner. Unless they open it up as more of a bar type place and less a restaurant later on in the night I don't see it working for a big meetup. Also Thursday is pick up night and you're going to have people in lines until rather late. Lat year in Florida they ran the lines much better but 09' myself and others where queued until after 10pm.

That's good to know about the Yardhouse regardless. I just suggested Thursday because of the Casino Night on Friday.

Keep in mind the Yeardhouse is open till 1:30am Fri-Sat and may very well close down the kitchen and become more of a bar after dinner service, I don't know but from what I saw it was more of a restaurant with a bar. I was pretty good restaurant for being a chain though, hope to eat there again.

its not like i am saying i want it 20 minutes away from mine, i want it to be at least POSSIBLE to even drive to it, even if it is an hour or two or maybe even 6 or so for once....some of us, like myself, or horrifically afraid of heights and will never set foot on a airplane....i would like to go to a botcon just once....just for once i would like for funpub to have something close for us transformers fans in this area where we have been shafted for the past years as it bounces back and forth from east to west coast

The problem is that even that an eight hour one way drive circle gives you around 480 miles. If you drop that circle in the middle of the country, you leave the large population areas on the coasts outside of that area. While they have done that for us in the past, I think that getting upset at them for trying to keep their business afloat is a bit rough.
