Consider this a listener question fellas:

On the subject of Transformers in the animation medium, do you find the cultural differences in Western (or American if you'd prefer) and Japanese cartoons to be a little too stark?

I'm basing this off my childhood memories of Transformers Masterforce, Headmasters and more recently Cybertron/Galaxy Force but the trends in Japanese Transformers primarily focus on the Leader character (namely Prime/Convoy) essentially getting the coolest gear, more spotlight and the power of burning justice essentially turning the rest of the Autobots into background characters. As compared to the American iterations of the franchise (G1, Animated and Prime) which makes it a point to give more of the other Bots and Cons a lot of character and spotlight episodes.

I'm from a country where manga and anime is very predominant and I've noticed this trend in other Japanese shows as well where the Japanese creators make all these awesome characters with great designs and powers only to have them slink into the background as the main character pretty much finishes the fights for them (i.e. Goku<Dragon Ball>, Ichigo <Bleach>, Fusuke <Ninku>, Kenshin <Rurouni Kenshin...though in Kenshin's defense he's kind of a pussy>)

My question is which style of Transformers do you prefer? Clearly the Japanese style TFs lean more to a Leader-centric bias while American TFs tend to give most of its cast a lot more love. And do you think there can be a balance to be struck between the two styles?

Vangelus always says something that makes me go "Yes! It's so true!" In this case, it's in regard to the Mighty Max cartoon. That show was sweet from what I remember.

Man. Continuing to constantly hear about Wreck-Gar stuff still reminds me I have been deathly afraid to even transform mine once. He gets use with my Kamen Riders, but that's been about it.

The idea of getting one, transforming it, and getting another just to stay in vehicle mode actually manages to sound like a good idea, all things considered.

Since cake was brought up in the podcast, I might as well bring up the rivalry of 2 creative TF Fans, myself (Floating Cat) and Crasis.

    Round 1: Cake

Crasis' Autocake - YouTube - Crasis Reviews: Transformers AUTOCAKE (A True Hero)
    vs.
Floating Cat's Optimus Prime Cake - YouTube - Optimus Prime Cake

    Round 2: WTF@TFW Poncho Contest

Crasis' 1st place entry - (picture unavailable)
    vs.
Floating Cat's 3rd place entry - The Good, the Bad, and the Blackout - The Floating Cat

As a side note, here is the 2nd place winner for those that might be curious - The Good, The Bad and The Wheelie | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I thought of a great idea for a cake, do a combiner and have each component be a different flavor of cake! I'd also love a Barricade cake, partially for the pun of Barricake.
