Awesome. I've been waiting for the WTF Crew to get to conjob. Downloading now.

the completely new take on wheeljack was refreshing.

Thinking about it, G1 wheeljack might have been to much for the show, we have a eccentric scientific medic with ratchet already.

Take that we referenced the wreckers and darkmount pass makes the hardcore G1 fans Smile.

There was a lot of action from him and everything he said sounded like how I imagined roadbuster would sound.

Its nice how they did'nt close him off from returning. In fact bulkhead noted it was one of jackie's character traits, he never stays but he'll be back.

Makeshift was a pretty neat new decepticon concept. I think the name has been used for minicons before this.

Though I should point out that bit where makeshift has to shoot a eradicon to keep up appearances. That was pretty dark if you think about it. Makeshift and that guy were probably hanging out in starscream's breakroom a hour earlier. And now as part of the mission makeshift has to kill some decepticons to gain trust. Makeshift was pretty awesome. And the way the Animators used the eyes when bulkhead caught his lies was really nice.

    Primes dont party

    hey WTF@TFW guys-
great show and just a thought about Arcee's line "Primes dont party". If Optimus is the only Prime the last 'party' he was at the Passing ceremony when his predecessor passed him the mantle of leadership (i.e. the matrix or what ever it is in the Prime Universe) before going offline. So the happiest day and the one worth partying on is tempered by the memory of the Prime that fell before him

Oh man, I'm behind on Prime! Guess it's time to do a double-feature on Con Job and then Primetime.

In regards to the Cons not using Makeshift earlier, I figured it was because the Autobots had each others' life signs. Like, they were able to track Cliffy's life signal in the pilot.

Whereas Wheeljack is a new entry, and even required Bulky to vouch for his voice. And even then, they didn't ground bridge him directly to base.

So once you're registered and kept track of, they knew you were clean. Otherwise, a pinch of salt's required.

Edit: Also, didn't Starscream already kill Cliffy before Megatron came back? Was Megs detected before or after the kill?

He was killed before Megatron was detected, but the Autobots didn't know that when they stormed the mine, so technically Makeshift could have impersonated Cliffjumper there and gained access to the base. At that point the treatment would be the same as it was with Wheeljack, they didn't detect any Decepticon signature to him because they never thought to scan him, or since the scanner in this episode was reading what may have been Makeshift at the start when they detected the attack, maybe he can mimic signatures, too.

But then again it's mostly the discretion of leadership, where Starscream seems more underhanded, Megatron is far more overt, so it wouldn't fit him to use Makeshift there.

    Coolness.

Yeah, and I've got a whole bunch of toys since then. And took the pictures etc. Just been a tad tired lately. But cool, should get stuff written to make up for lost time.

Onto the podcast itself, in regards to Prime and Megatron.

It could be possible that they were once on fairly equal footing, but when Megatron went over to the Decepticon side (something that Prime might have been offered to do, judging from the big fight in ep 5), Megatron apparently shot up the ranks and became something of a war hero amongst the Decepts. Meanwhile, Prime's "career" seems to be still stuck in the squad leader position. I guess it being known that you were once best buds with the Transformers equivalent of HITLER didn't help his career.

Starscream didn't have to leave the original alive to send in Makeshift. But the idea about the lifesign monitor is a good point.

My thoughts were that in the mini series "finding the autobots base" wasn't really even on the decepticons to do list. Now that Megatron is half dead, and Starscream has full command, he's doing what he wants. Disinterested in the dark eneron zombie hoopla, killing autobots is on his mind.

I imagined the voice would suit IDW Impactor personally.

The smelting pit mention was cool too, Would only have been cooler if they had mentioned Straxus.

On the whole thing of Jacky leaving earth, he actually says something about finding the other members of the team. That coupled with the fact that he asks Bulkhead to come with him, it would seem he's trying to get the rest of the wreckers back together. So maybe that's why Optimus was ok with him leaving.

Also, on the whole Optimus/Culen thing; someone somewhere in the TFP forum brought up, what I thought was a good way of looking at it, that TFP Optimus is basically John Luke Picard. He's serious and solemn when the time calls for it, but also at times has a lighter side to him. Like the whole "snowball" line.

You know, it had been bugging me for the longest on why this take on Prime seemed vaguely familiar. Now it makes sense.

I had the impression that Wheeljack's appearance this early on is meant to be an intentional set up. Like having him return in the season finale with a group of Atobots (Wreckers?) and then having them be cool and then leave almost instantly. Like Rodimusususs crew in Energon or the Elite Guard in Animated, maybe its just me but it feels like he's being set up for something like that.

Good point. That's a pretty good way of looking at him. Just as Jean Luc didn't play poker with the crew, Prime "doesn't party".

In contrast, Animated Prime was a greenhorn crewed with non-military personnel, one of whom is a war hero who's way more experienced than him and another who's a rebellious ninja/elite from another sub-faction. His attempts at doing things in a formal military manner ended badly. He needed time to earn their respect.

Prime Prime's apparently paid his dues.

This Prime Time episode was definitely in-depth about all sorts of things that I didn't realize when I was watch the latest Prime episode, but I must admit I enjoyed Wheeljack. He was different and that he kicked ass...especially Starscream's. Now Makeswift is a good concept, but its ashamed that he got blown into smithereens.

Was thinking about what you guys said regarding why Cliffjumper wasn't duped with Makeshift. Cliffy went in gun's blazing and was presumed destroyed, if not vanished from the battlefield. If Makeshit had dubed him, it might have worked, but it was pretty obvious that Cliff had been overwhelmed and possibly captured. With Jacky, the bots hadn't seen him in years, and he was arriving in what appeared to be a secure location. Switching him out would have been a hellova lot less obvious than if they had switched out an Autobot who had previously been outnumbered and beaten.
