Just to correct you guys, Jack leaves at the end of episode 4 and is asked to come back from Arcee at the beginning of 5. Not 3 and 4.

Blasted crapberry can't handle mp3s over 40ish minutes I guess have to wait 2 more hours to hear past 45 grr. But I am glad I am not the only one who thought dark energon is on it's way to being a god level mcguffin. Thought I was alone after the discussion in the prime boards.

And yeah, I gotta kick out of Ratchet's death dispenser blades! Glad to see a Ratchet go and get him some. I figured there was a reason Prime singled him to come along to play Resident Cybertron: Graveyard over any of the rest of the crew when, as Gog said. Prime knew the stuff was about to get deep and fast.

I think with a voyager and some creative placement of electronics they could maybe pull off a full lcd display in soundwaves head, but like any other gimmick there would have to be sacrifices made. Would work to a hilt in a leader, but doubt they would sink that much into a character that hasn't pulled that much screen time.

Sadly that's about where I left off :(

Loved the points you brought up towards the end about Starscream, and I was surprised the comparison to G1 Cyclonus didn't come up. Starscream comes close to edging out Arcee and Bulkhead for my attention in the series to date, but loses mainly because he only gets so much screentime. I'm very excited to see more of him come February, but he really needs more than recorder Soundwave to play off. That interrogation scene with Fowler was delicious and I need to see more bickering like that with someone Starscream can't squash between his fingers.

to add what you were discussing about Starscream thinking Megatron was going insane, he did make the comment to Soundwave, "I think Megatron has come down with a case of space madness."

as far as the negativity towards Optimus, I can understand it. But to be fair, he always has been just the heroic leader that protects others. Animated is the only series that went outside that (i have not seen any japanese series so i could be wrong)

Up to topic on Dark Energon:

Honestly, from the way I looked at it, we've only seen Dark Energon effect things in two ways. Three if you break one of the aspects up, but the way I see it, they're closely connected.

One: the bringing of "life" to lifeless technology.
As far as I'm concerned, the whole thing with the zombies and the little claw bot that came to life, is the same thing. The idea that Dark Energon brings back the dead appears to be a misconception, maybe due to the fact that the stuff seems to be practically a myth till Megs shows up with it.
But you look at what it did to the claw device, it assimilated a piece of lifeless technology into a primitive form of feral being. A "dead Cybertronain's body is basically nothing but a lifeless heap of technology. And the "zombies" were basically just feral in nature, just like the claw bot. So to me, these two things are the same.

Two: The effects on living sparks.
The way I look at it, Dark Energon is somewhat similar to that of a drug. Like some drugs, they can create both a weakening, and seemingly powerful effect on someone.
In the case of what we've seen, small doses only give the effect of feeling weak, dizziness, fainting, lack of stamina; to me this says that the D.E. is trying to take hold, but since it is so little, it's only giving the effect of losing strength/control.
And when it does take full effect of a living spark, it creates symbiosis. So far, all we've seen of this is that Megatron was able to control the feral "zombie" bots, which were mindless anyway. Since we have not seen any other living transformers imbued completely with D.E. we don't know yet how that might effect this symbiosis. Given the supposed origin of D.E., it would seem that maybe this symbiosis was not meant to give power to sparks, but rather enslave them.

I donno, but to me, so far, Dark Energon seems fairly consistent in it's properties.

I was going to post something like this, but you explained it a lot better than I had it phrased in my head. That's a good summation of what we've seen of Dark Energon in Prime so far.

I don't have a problem with how it has been used so far, but it makes me cringe when I think that different effects of Dark Energon will be used to make a new plot every episode, and it can only go so far. I agree that the effects could be lumped into 2 or so categories, but like the example of Smallville I used, it quickly becomes tiring monster of the week stuff when you have the same substance causing grief every ep.

If it pops up once in a while, I think it will be fine, but if this is going to be the main focus of the show, then I think it's a shame that the writers have given themselves a huge crutch so early on. We'll find out in February!

The show's called Transformers: Prime. Calm down, I'm sure we'll get some Optimus Prime development eventually.

But that's really just all wild speculation on your part. The show has really not shown any sign of going in that direction, yet. The last we saw of D.E. it was all thrown into the space bridge, and then cut off from earth.
You're blaming the writers for useing a crutch before they've even had a chance to lean on it.

Now, given that if in fact it does turn out that somehow some of the D.E. was left on earth, and it does end up being a magic macguffin on a weekly basis, then sure, I'll be right there with you. It just seems a tad early to start crying fowl on it, now.

How am I blaming the writers for anything? I said I hope it doesn't go in that direction, and I don't have a problem with what we have gotten so far. Speculation is me saying "this is going to happen," or "I think this is going to happen."

Me saying "I hope this is not going to happen" is me expressing a desire for what I would like to see. Which you apparently passionately disagree with or something.

It just came off as more like you were condemning the writers for something that has yet to even happen.

I agree though, I hope they don't do that, either. I just don't really see it going in that direction from what they've done so far.
