I think the point was referencing that fact that everyone and they're mother will try their hardest to make their custom character look like an established character.

Even I would probably be inclined to make a character sort of similar to Ultra Magnus. Although, I would definitely would not just make a carbon copy.

It's sad, I've been thinking a Transformers MMO would have the possibility of being cool for awhile, but find out it's just another one of Korean developed game that I will probably never have access to is disappointing.

My dream TF MMO would probably be developed by a North American company with a lot of involvement from Hasbro, and TF authors/writers that really know the mythology.

    Few things to say:

Firefly is an awesome show, and I watch Castle simply because of the main character... And he's a good actor...

Also, I think I have the most valid idea for the firetruck...

I think the infamous Nelson posted something about that firetruck in that thread. Something about how fans reaction to who it is will be similar to the fan reaction to Prime's truck mode having flames.
Not completely sure what he means by that, cause fan's reaction to the truck flames had been (And continue to be.) a mix of emotions. But it does seem to add some credence to the idea that it might possibly be someone like Rodimus or Magnus.

The way you described it on the podcast I thought it'd be a ramen cup that itself transformed into a helicopter. :p  Maybe I misremembered what I heard.

That was one issue. The bigger one was that they shut down the original game completely, and replaced it with (from what I remember reading.) what was basically a WoW clone in Star Wars cosplay.
So yeah, like what Raithnor said, they just ended up alienating their original customer base by taking away the game that they put so much time into, and replaceing it with a dumbed-down wanta be.

Thought I was the only one bothered by no flame door matrix chamber for Rodimus, guess I shouldn't have underestimated the goddamn Protoman.

I liked the "You have to earn the right to be a Jedi." From what I heard, when you saw a Jedi in that game, you knew those dudes had put work into it and there was a sense of awe as if someone in real life (movieverse) would react. But they changed it and let everyone start as a Jedi, and everyone who had put hours and into the game to earn it left in disgust. And since the core playerbase was gone, that was that.

At least that was the story I heard.

^I agree, I thought the idea of having to earn it was a really cool idea. I wish more MMO games would do stuff like that.

Fact I always thought it'd be cool if they had a MMORPG in where all the classes were something you'd have to get by actually playing through the game. You know? You'd maybe start out as just a basic fighter type, and depending on which quests you did would define what class you ended up being.
I think it'd make it feel a lot more like you were actually doing something in the game.

Yeah. The concept of a level 01 Jedi is kinda silly. :lol  Jedi are like level 75 material.

Yeah, although I think they got around that by having it be that you actually start out of a "padawan" and then at some point that gets dropped and you become "Jedi"

Which you know, fine, that works for probably what Bioware is doing with Old Repuplic, which is suppose to be set in a time where Jedi were more prevalent. But the original Galaxies was, I think, suppose to be set somewhere between New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, were Jedi should have been for the most part wiped out. So it made more sense making it a class people would have to work for. That way seeing a Jedi in the game was a lot more rare like it should be in that setting.

    Wow... for off topic talk.

I played Galaxies. Becoming Jedi was a hard thing. You originally had to master a profession (30-50 hours of time) then do a quest every week or two for 2-3 months then you unlocked Jedi.

SWG messed up when they tried "tuning" the game, then changing it completely. The set of changes they made that shot it dead was a total changing of EVERYTHING. They announced the changes 24 hours before it went live and 2 days before a new expansion. It was like going from playing poker to euchre, mid hand.

From what I was told by SWGers, the Jedi thing was not the lynchpin that broke the camel's back. It was when the game was revamped and several entire CLASSES were removed. Which meant that people who'd slogged through and built up really unique characters in high-level creature handlers and chemists (I dunno the actual class names, haha) were literally going to be forced to respec into a completely different class.

That would suck for those still grinding, but can you imagine sinking 100 hours in to become a jedi, and right as you do, they change the rules and a level 1 dude with 2 hours playtime gets it for free? I'd ragequit after that for sure.

I vaguely understood it that the new Jedi class was nowhere near as deep or powerful as the grindable one. The bigger loss was for those creature handlers and chemists, because their entire style of gameplay was more or less erased from the game (as far as I understood it, at least). They chose to put their own huge amount of time into acquiring rare and exotic pets, for instance, and were then made to take up a simple WoW-style combat role.

(Again, as far as I understood things from the people I talked to. I never played SWG. :lol )

    Also I love Transformers!

    Hence why I quit....

You're all right. Little of column A, lil column B. The removed professions, went from like 40 to 9 "iconic" ones sucked....also the change to game play constantly was ******ed, there were 2 "combat upgrades" in the game...the first one wasn't actually that bad, I kinda preferred it as it balanced professions a little but to do it a second time to make "new game enhancements" which were anything but...the game was more broken after that NGE then it ever was before.

Finally...all the hours I put into not only unlocking a Jedi, you then had to grind them up to gain new skills which was tough as the transition was difficult having force skills while using heavy weapons/rifles....it wasn't easy. I tried to continue but the game was no longer fun with so many people leaving after the constant changes and screw jobs by SOE so I'm tempted to never play another game they make if all they think about is trying to be the next WOW...it's a tough cookie to crack, just try to make a good game regardless of WOW.

    Ok...rant off...
