I'm not a terrible person! I've been trying to order the Allspark Almanac Volume 2 at Chapters, only to have it say "This book is unavailable for order". I want it! Damn you Chapters!

Hey, I was wondering if you guys would agree to this theory of TF evolution that I thought up and then was reminded of in your listener question by t16skyhop.

The Transformers were created by an advanced alien race as a new kind of small robot that had an altering binary code so that they could, in a sense, evolve. The race is destroyed and this new type of robot is left. After thousands of years of evolution, they develop a sense of awareness and an advanced AI. They gain the ability to shift there form due to there rapid evolution process. Unicron was an experiment robot who had the ability to fuse himself with other machines and he was developed as a weapon in the war that killed the race. Eventually, he lost recognition of friend and foe and became bent on the destruction and consumption of machines and races, and, through this, he became as large and powerful as he is.

Though seeing Vol 1 for $150 on Amazon helped persuade me to buy this now.

 

Rebirth Megatron has gotten that expensive?! Holy crap! It is a fantastically fun toy though. I'm glad I didn't skip him when Robot Masters were new. Gigant Bomb and Smokescreen however are another story...

and to answer the other question, I came up with this little spiel in the space of...about 4 or 5 minutes?

Unknown Aliens build what we now know as Cybertron, but it's built as a massive galactic exploration vehicle, capable of carrying nearly the entire race of these aliens who are on a quest to discover everything they can of the known universe.
However, these rather cerebral aliens feel the manual work is beneath them, so they also build these hundreds of robots to run their planetship. In the interest of efficiency, they build these robots with some variation of AI.
At some point during their journey, the robots become self-aware, and at some point rebel against their masters.
These aliens, knowing there's no way they can defeat these machines one by one, jury-rig a massive, planetwide shockwave to simultaneously erase the memories of every robot on the planet. To do this, they have to disable whatever propulsion system cybertron had been using.
They initiate this shockwave, but it has the unforseen side-effect of wiping out everything biological on the planet, including themselves.
Robots awake with no memory of their past, and no explanation for how they came to be, stranded, for the moment, on a big metal planet, sitting dead in space.
Ta-da!
