#22 | | i've got something to say Join Date: May 2007 Posts: 853 Location: NY Collection Count: You're gonna need a bigger boat | Totally agree about trades being a much better medium to read all the stories in. Plus easier to catch up on for people new to a series or in this case the collectors club. Thats how i really got into the Authority (READ IT IF YOU HAVENT)

You guys mentioned that the people on the boards, the mods, contributors and so forth, do have a little more weight behind what they say regarding Transformers as a whole. And if you want to even break it down farther, the posters who, maybe aren't neccessarily mods, but have a high number of posts, probably are more knowledgeable than most. However, would you agree that, the knowledge of a large or frequent poster may only pertain to happenings on the boards, and maybe not neccessarily Transformers knowledge overall?
Also, how would you gauge a member who maybe doesn't have a large number of posts, who is not active, but still has a quality knowledge base? Where do they fall?

A lot of people try to sub-categorize the lower category, but it's really a waste of time. I believe the others who brought up knowledge bases meant general TF fandom questions that have been answered in the past, not specific knowledge of one or two messageboards themselves. ie: Since they've heard answers and details on things that may not be widely known, they can provide that information themselves to assist discussion.
Otherwise as I'd said myself, trying to gauge or rank people as fans for any reason outside of fun or practicality is dumb and stupid. I think higher or lower of people based on things that are irrelevant to the specifics of their chosen interests or geekdoms.

I do see how it would pay to be active on boards, but I still have trouble getting into the forum mentality.

A lot of people try to sub-categorize the lower category, but it's really a waste of time. | See, this is why I don't like you.... you have the humility of a plate of warm chicken.[/sarcasm]
And before anyone else asks, No. I only have one THS Galaxy Convoy left, and I'm keeping it. Sorry. Nuckin' Futs comment property of Enigma2K2
