I am taking a break in the intermission to weigh in on Devastator, because I bought him. Yes, I live in England. And yes, I did pay full price for him. 

Let me get it out of the way: no, he is probably not worth $100 (and he certainly isn't worth £100), but having played with him a while, I can start to understand the rationale behind the price, and it is one of sheer, simple plastic. Devastator is a whole assload of plastic, way more than a Leader, maybe even as much as two Leaders. Almost everything is big and chunky, and almost nothing is hollow or thin. Moreover, he has the some of the most complex electronics I've seen in a Transformer, with a ton of context-sensitive sound clips and different light sequences. Sure, none of this is really stuff that a collector would necessarily value, but it's there, and I can see that it would make a big difference on the budgeting. A hundred does seem steep, but with him in hand, it's equally clear that 60 or even 70 would be way too low, especially with Leaders being 45 now.

As for how good he is...hard to say. He is absolutely not the pinnacle of this or any other line, but on the other hand he is not without merit. He's not two feet tall (snort), but he is very big and sturdy, and looks the part next to any RotF toy other than maybe the Leaders. His paintjob is very lacking when you scrutinise it (especially on Hightower, who just looks awful), but he has enough to look passable for a scan over. His transformations are very simple, but not unenjoyable, particularly going from vehicles to robot. His Vortex Grinder is a very impressive Mech Alive gimmick. In fact, the only thing I'd mark down as a pure negative is his electronics; like I said, they're really pleasantly elaborate, but they are far too sensitive and will bug the hell out of you, especially in Mixmaster mode where he is nigh-on unbearable.

Is he the toy we were all hoping for? No. Does he fill out that price tag? No. But that doesn't make him awful or a rip-off. My recommendation: try and get some hands on time with him. If you like what you're seeing and feeling, go for him, even at a hundred if you're comfortable with it. If not, then don't go near him until he's less than 40, or not at all. There is no middle ground with this fella.

For my part, I'm content with my purchase.

A note about Alternity megs those leg bits can lock into place but it requires a bit of work and might not be worth it.

Also Vangelus I agree with you on Punch/Counter punch . Him and double dealer are my favorite transformers because they are not only Transformers they are also both Bot and Con. You really get your moneys worth. You can add Armada Sideways (be it to a lesser extent)
