Does this mean I... have something in common with Michael Bay because I... like Kiss Players? Oh God... I feel dirty!

Although, Alice as a Legion KP partner? Hmmmmmmmmm.... possibilities.

If you're going to get a Baldwin at all, get Alec.

    Go for the gold.

Great podcast as always, especially as this was an unexpected bonus.

Regarding the Pretender issue, I would suggest that in addition to Alice, who would continue to serve as the method of introducing the idea to the audience, that instead of a 4-star general or the like the second Pretender should have been Galloway, the Security Advisor sent by Obama. Image the scene where Lennox is about to trick him into ejecting himself out of the plane where he instead transforms and attacks, only to be fired upon by the NEST solders until he is propelled out of the open cargo ramp with a severely damaged parachute. Overall you wouldn’t even have to change that much about his character.

Y'know, a few days after watching the movie, I couldn't help but wonder what was Alice's purpose there myself.

She didn't seem to know that Sam was gonna be attending the same college, and she certinally didn't know he was juiced by the Allspark fragment...so what was she there for...?

I would really like a transcript of the censored stuff uncensored. I can't understand what's being said half the time.

I want to start this off by saying I like the original eido 11 bleep better.

This is a very interesting bit of schadenfreude for me. I've heard you guys talk about and hype these movies up so much and how much you liked them. All the while I was sitting there trying to figure out why. Then literally at the absolute last second, the day the new movie opened, I changed my opinion. I went, saw the movie and loved it. I even went out and got the first movie re-release and re-watched it and enjoyed it. I've been to the theater three times now, twice in just an average movie theater and then I drove down to Columbus Ohio, which is like 110 miles and 2 hr drive, to see it in IMAX simply because I felt it warranted it. Then I turn around and I listen to you guys and suddenly your opinion is changed. You don't like it as well as you thought you would. I can't help but laugh a little at it.

Don't get me wrong I agree the movie does have some pretty serious flaws, such as D.C. turning into Nevada, Devastator being wasted, Dr Clawwave, etc. Oddly enough though Alice did serve a purpose. This is a huge huge overly done set up as well. If she didn't attack Sam and co. and force them into the non Autobot vehicle and get them driving away from the college and into the city, Blackout/Grindor could not have picked them up and delivered them to Megatron and Starscream. Which lead to the big fight in the empty warehouse which turned into the forest fight which lead to Prime dying/going into stasis lock and setting up a second resurrection subplot. I mean that's a huge train of thought and the second part of it can be dropped off but still, she served a purpose albeit it's one that's as awkwardly choreographed and integrated as Devastator.

Again though I just find it funny I wasn't really a movie fan til now and now I love it I'm 100% for this stuff now. And no matter if the movies aren't intellectually as stimulating as they could be and as much as we'd want them to be, they bring in money. Money and profits mean good things for Hasbro and in turn for us as fans and collectors. It's a trickle down effect. I think the same trickle down happened with the first movie, obviously we didn't really expound on it but one could argue it lead to the development of some of the really great figures we got in the Animated and Universe/Classics 2.0 lines. Animated became one of those really well done lines that I was only going to get maybe 4 figures out of. That didn't last, and now I've gotten a sizeable chunk of the line. So maybe we can hope with all the revenue the new movie is bringing in we'll have figures that blow away Universe Inferno.

I'm rambling now so I'll call it there but yea, try not to be too hard on the movie or on Roger Ebert, not that I'll ever defend his review of the movie. I couldn't even stomach to read all of it I was so disgusted by it. Anyway, I just had to get that out. And my signature still has effect! These movies could and have changed Transformers from what we knew!

I'm going to do a test soon, and see who can tell they're hearing pieces of the original 3 EIDO11s and who thinks "AUGH" "OOB" and "EHH" are the same things. :lol

To be honest I don't feel like I've had a 180 on the movie- I basically enjoyed it as much as I expected to. I believe I'm rather firmly in the middleground, and the movie's flaws are just easier to have fun with at length. :D

I still feel its a better film than the first as it simply has Transformers on screen more often :D

Forget Eido11, you need the G1 Transformation noise to cover swears :)

I can't speak for any of the other but when I poke fun at Roger Ebert I'm really mocking the people that are all red face with anger over his review. The people that went over to his web site and started spamming it with hurtful and hateful messages are an embarrassment to the fan community.

As for how we talk about the movie before it came out for me I would say we where seeing bits and peaces of things that looked too out of order and context. They trying to fill in the blanks maybe started creating a better movie in my head. I don't hate this movie, I'm just sort of ok with it.

I can tell no one who liked the first movie did a 180. In fact I'd be truly surprised if many opinions changed at all. I'd like to think I'm one of the few exceptions who went from "movies = raped 80's cartoon" to "movies = pure epic win".

I'm really really kicking myself too for purposefully passing on movie 1 premiums like Ironhide and Ratchet. I love the Topkick, it's like the ultimate vehicle for me. Once I got movie 2 Ratchet and played with him I really really liked him as opposed to my initial mild interest enough to get the G1 redeco, 2 yrs ago. Now movie 1 stuff is a hair rare but Premium Ironhide and Ratchet as well as normal movie 1 Ratchet are on my shortlist, which is quite long lol.

When Gog Dog talks about the pretender, all I kept thinking about was Hideo Kojima's videogame Snatcher.

Snatcher is a science fiction game thats about cybernetic organisms who have humanoid shapes that kill people, "snatch" their skin and blood, wear it on themselves and try to fit into society without suspicion. The game further progresses when you learn that these cybernetic creatures (also called "bioroids" or "snatchers") are trying to take the place of government officials, thus manipulating and controlling society.

If you can find the game, is really worth playing.

I'll be honest, his overall reaming of the movie really did upset me. However I'm not one to flame. I mean the guy's been rating movies for a while and I've got a lot of respect for him. I've been agreeing with him on a lot of recent stuff really. So seeing him tear into something I really enjoyed kind of hurt. I think he knows what he likes and it's really a shame none of the critics like the movie and thus it gets no TV spots over it and there's no additional media draw for it post release. I'm considering going back, looking at the review again and if anything maybe post something along the lines of "Ok, I see your point. I however, disagree, here's why:" And not just go off on some flame war against him. We really need the prominent voices of the community to step up, and get a foot in the door and make the good civil dissenting opinion post without hate before the flame wars start and make us all look like morons.
