Do the Shanghai Generals have any connection to Vangelus's triad contacts?

I did a frame by frame of the new teaser where CMDR Doomwheels destroys the overpass and I totally had a "Holy *eido11*!" moment when I saw that back wheel come up over his head and crash down on the bridge.

Thanks for the concern... I was two days into two daily doses of antibiotics for a case of tonsilitis... it was also the first day I was able to drink non-hot drinks and non-liquid foods. So I was a little out of it.

Howeva, I do go on a Drewrant around 1:46. I go on rants like that after the show... ask the other guys.

I disagree and agree with you guys on Devs.

I agree, $100 is too steap. $70, fine, $80 fair enough. Deffinately a shame it can't do more considering the price. I do agree he does kinda look cheap.

I disagree about comparing this to Takara product. This is a toy for KIDS. When was the last time TAK/Tomy made a toy that wasn't aimed towards the fans first and general public second? Hasbro has to cater to the little ones first, as they buy the most of their product.

You know, despite how ugly the twins are, you have to admit the sculpt and paint captures the movie's likeness prefectly.

Vangelus: You couldn't tell if MAINFRAME was an homage? He's the only Transformer ever released who doesn't turn into a computer!

    ----------

On the new trailer/Friday the 13th: The next Crossovers line is totally going to be like, Transformers Movie Maniacs or Universal Monsters Transformers, isn't it?

    ----------

The limited/non-existent presence of Animated and Universe at Toy Fair was disappointing: nothing at the show itself? Only slideshow? And now Golf Ire Grimlock and Sub-Mumble Bee are unsolicited? What the poop?

    ----------

They MUST make 'Shanghai Generals' Human Alliance drivers.

    ---------

Vangelus: you like listening to old episodes because you are a narcissist, and are sexually excited by your own voice.

As soon as Vange started talking about the Gravity Bots, I had a feeling that you guys were going to be ripping them in a way that would seem dated and distasteful in the wake of their now-obvious awesomeness. Fortunately Vangelus was alert to these concerns as well, and managed to insert a hastily-recorded pre-emptive apology, which he clearly feels redeems him karmically. It doesn't - you'll have to buy at least three Gravity Bots and prostrate yourself before them daily for a month to earn full forgiveness - but it's a good start.

I'm surprised nobody guessed this yet. I think Archer was implying that Soundwave doesnt even have a robot mode in the movie. I bet he is just a giant space station and he is responsible for the rain of the protoforms. I think he is gonna drop not just ravage but every single Decepticon down on earth that we see in the movie. Thats why we get the little ravage missle to represent this part of the movie

Thats an intersting theory, but the whole reason that Soundwave wasn't in the first movie was that they couldn't do justice to the character. I really doubt they would do that to the fans after being so careful with his image the first time around. They would be roasted alive.

Thats true but I think that was more in regards to the fact that the character that would end up being frenzy was the psycho comic relief. Having Soundwave in the sequel as the silent Bringer of Doom ejecting dozens of frenzys and ravage and lord knows who else would feel very much in character to me.

We sort of did but Vang saved us from the embarrassment of talking out our collective asses not having seen them in action yet. I still don't have any interest in getting them but I do think the smoothness in how the parts move when they transform is really cool looking.

The original description of the Archer quote is that - Archer said he couldn't give away the plot point, but there's a reason that Soundwave is designed the way he is for the movie. Hasbro had a more basic toy need. So, the two were blended together.

This is how I interpret it - Soundwave needed to be a communication satellite for plot purposes in the film to bounce around messages/do satellite-y things. The toy, however, having just a satellite altmode would have been a wee bit boring (these are the people who vetoed a Classics Cosmos because UFOs are boring), so they made it a "triplechanger" and gave it a toyetic jet mode, too.

Compare it to giving Scorponok a robot mode in the first movie toy line.

I'll admit, they're cooler than I was expecting. I wonder how the Starscream will transform now.

I think that is a good theory as well, but it was stated that Hasbro made it MORE simple. So that tells me that he is more complicated in the movie. I agree about the jet mode though. I think that is a toy-only mode. I think we are all going to be surprised how crazy Soundwave is in the movie. ;)

My guess is he 'reformats' from Satellite to jet, but not in a way that reverses conversion or changes the look of his robot mode, so they made him a triple changer to have both modes.

That's vaguely along teh lines of my thoughts.

And yeah, Gravity Bots kick ass.
