Do you think the timeline will get more complex in the future, splitting off into even more branches? Do you think the order of events will change?

I think the branches will stay the same. Just adds onto the current branches.

Apparently Yuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan) is our new voice for Link in Hyrule Warriors.

Not a half bad casting decision if i do say so myself.

Is there actual voice acting or, as usual, is it just a series of grunts and yells? Seems like a waste of a good actor's potential to me.

I'll go against the grain and I'll say that Zelda 1 and 2 and ALBW are my definitive Zeldas, along with the 80's cartoon. I don't pay any attention to the timeline business, because after the Disney fiasco with Star Wars EU, I've learned never to bother with anything relating.

However, even though I did mention that these are my definitive Zelda, I do plan on playing Twilight Princess. I've almost completed Wind Waker, and I'm hoping that I can add this new upcoming Wii U Zelda to my 'canon.'

I love the Zelda series with all my heart. I own all (except for Twilight Princess ) of the games and have completed each and every one. The only one I definitively don't like is Twilight Princess. I HATE Twilight Princess. The game is terribly uninspired and just majorly unappealing. Other than that, I absolutely love ever other game in the series.
As far as the timeline, here's my thoughts:
I love it. My interpretation is that the timeline actually split when Ganondorf touched the triforce and it itself split into three pieces, one going to Ganon, Zelda, and Link. Each branch of the timeline represents one of the triforce shards: The downfall timeline, in which Ganon is victorious, represents the trifroce of power. The Wind Waker timeline, in which Zelda is forced to deal with any peril now that Link is gone, represents the triforce of wisdom. Notice the three games in that timeline often center somewhat on Zelda. Lastly is Link's timeline, which represents the triforce of courage. Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and, to an extent, Four Swords Adventures all have very minimal amounts of Zelda and focus on Link's story.
My dream is that in a game all three timelines are someday reconnected, much like the triforce always is :)

I though Twilight Princess was pretty good, it had awesome dungeons. The start though was pretty boring and hunting those twilight bugs was a real pain.

I really loved Twilight Princess, but it's a polarizing game apparently. Though it heavily built its foundation on Ocarina I thought it was very inspired. It looked great, played great, had some great dungeons (Arbiter's Grounds, the ice mansion, etc) and enemies (the last fight with Ganon was awesome) and a massive overworld, something that Skyward Sword lacked (or at the very least, chopped up into smaller, sealed off sections). I loved finding the "hero" who taught you new moves and I didn't mind the bug hunting quest at all; at least it didn't drag on too long. Plus it gave us some new characters, a new world and even a new princess to save.

It's odd, honestly. The fandom that worships Ocarina thinks pretty negatively of the one Zelda game that's the most like it (and even then it still has it's own aspects). It's "too much like Ocarina" or "Not enough like Ocarina" to some of them...

I don't know, it probably is just grunts and yells.

That being said I agree with you there.

I think it's rather stupid to have made none of the characters speak in Hyrule Warriors. I was looking at some footage of the cutscenes and it just seems so awkward in this day and age. Even a made up language would be better than just empty air and a few anime-esque grunts and shouts. Link can remain silent but there's really no reason why everyone else has to conform since they're already "speaking" characters anyway. A shame too, as since HW is a spinoff it could have been an opportunity to experiment how a Zelda game with full voice acting would be like.

I think OoT is by far the best Zelda game. I played it for the first time on the 3DS and was just blown away by how incredible of a game it was. I wish I had played it way back when it first came out, but I probably would not have enjoyed it as much then as I did now thanks to the touch screen item menu and stuff. Wind Waker is my second favorite game followed by A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds (not sure which one i like more).

I'm not sure which I like more after that though, Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess. Both of those games have their amazing moments and their negatives.

I, for one, am happy there isn't voice acting in Zelda games. Mainly because I read faster than it takes people to talk, I just cut them off half way.

Maybe if it was a cutscene only thing. I adore Midna, but man, in Hyrule Warriors she does not shut up.

Ocarina and Link to the Past always sort of battle it out in my head as my favorite. The runner up would be Wind Waker.

As for Twilight Princess, for me I felt the dungeons felt like chores and the overworld never felt rewarding for exploring. On top of that, I didn't like the wolf scenes. It did have good moments, but it was just disappointing overall. Replaying Ocarina of time, the dungeons felt like they get going a lot faster and never feel like they drag out that much. Though, like most people, the water temple in the original made me want to bang my head on a wall. They 3DS remake made it work better.

This is pretty much how I feel about voice acting in Zelda. Major, story related cutscenes can have voice acting, and maybe some bits of voice acting in main gameplay, but otherwise I'd want the main game speaking to be as it normally is. Ultimately the only thing I actually think should stay is Link not speaking.

They need to start putting voice acting in Zelda games as this is 2014, not 1986. Hell, that is one of the reasons I was uanble to give Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess the GOTY award for the years those two came out.

I forgot who it was (maybe Miyamoto), but someone high up really doesn't want voice acting in Zelda as he feels it hurt the experience. Pretty crazy but that's the reason we still don't have voice acting in Zelda. It's not like Nintendo is against voice acting, as they already use it in several games, including the giant RPG Xenoblade.

Honestly, as long as the game is still fun and has the depth that I've come to expect from the series, I really don't care if there's voice acting or not.

As for my favorite, well it's still the original (and yeah, I know I'm repeating myself). One of the reasons why OoT isn't the top of the list is because some of the temples get tiresome for me. One of the ones I hate the most is the Water Temple. Every time I have to go through that is usually about where I take a long hiatus from playing it. I also have a particular hatred for the forest temple. Both temples have parts of them where I invariably get stuck and either can't remember how to get out of it or I know and just have difficulty doing it. Having said that, they really did some very creative things with both OoT and Majora's Mask. I mean, having a temple where you have to turn the whole thing upside down to finish it is really thinking three dimensionally. And even the ones in OoT that bother me still had some amazing innovation. Having to twist corridors and raise and lower water levels...
