Revolution Remakes

Probably some what old news but i think its funny how nintendo is so "innovative" by skipping out on sweet graphics....

Nintendo is currently looking into providing some of their older games with a complete visual makeover when users download them using the Revolution's upcoming online service, according to an interview with Nintendo president Satoro Iwata in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.
"We are doing several experiments, including working with the original Super Mario Bros., with the new technology," said Iwata. "The game itself and the gameplay shall be identical, but the look will be different; it's possible that with Revolution, we may be able to see the old games with new looks."

The company isn't new to visual remakes. In 1993, Nintendo released Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, which introduced new graphics for the first three Super Mario Bros. games.

Swapping 2D artwork is easy enough, but Nintendo will also be providing downloadable versions of their 3D-centric Nintendo 64 games. In that case, Nintendo doesn't have any solid plans, but says it's possible for 3D games to "look sharper" when played on Revolution.

For more from Iwata and complete coverage of the next-generation console wars, make sure to check out the latest issue of EGM, arriving in subscribers mailbox's tomorrow and onto newsstands starting June 29.

Wonder how they'll handle it.

And as for your comment: I would rather have a game that is fun to play and has 'mediocre' graphics then a game with cutting edge graphics but boring gameplay.

It's funny how "innovative" Nintendo is by offering us a type of controller scheme never used before, downloaded games for the first time on a Nintendo console and a face lift to make older games look and possibly play better.

*cough*

Anyway, I'm hoping to get a Zelda OOT with clearer visuals.

No, Nintendo. You're doing it backwards. Keep the graphics the same, and change the gameplay to work with the new controller.

Anybody who has played wario ware touched or twisted will know what I'm talking about.

u mad?

The DS game is all new, just plays like the old school Mario.

I hope they do Super Smash Brothers (or better yet, bring it out on the DS).

There are some old games that they could remake, but I think the majority of the games, all the NES games anyway, should keep the old controller scheme since they already have the remote set up to be a NES controller when it's turned sideways.

I heard that the were making a Pilotwings for the Rev, but I still think SNES Pilotwings would be a great game to map to the new controller, forget about the N64 version though...I hated that one.

That has exactly what to do with an article about Nintendo upgrading the graphics on some older games? If you're gonna bash Nintendo, you could at least think of something relevant to the topic you're posting.
