My PS2 died. Help?

tried playing wild arms alter code F for a bit, wouldnt load. just showed "reading disc" non-stop. so I figure okay, it's a dual layer disc, these things are known to have problems. so I try Megaman X Collection. loud GRINDING sounds are heard, followed by rapid-fire clicking. WTF. turn it on it's side, same thing. now the grinding sounds are louder and more abrasive sounding than even the DC's load times. open it up, clean it, put it back together, same crap. figure "maybe it can still play CDs" so I put in RPG Maker. Same crap.

Anyone have any ideas what I should do? I dont think I'll be able to stand not having a PS2. any cleaning or fixing tips are appreciated.

Sell it for 50$ and wait for PS3

No really you could try to call electronic store like Eb games, Bestbuy,Gamestop and ask what happened.Don't know any other way, because if you try anything you'll maybe make it worse

Good luck

You need to do the laser adjust fix. It was mentioned in a thread in this forum not to long ago.

This is a common problem, and adjusting the height of the laser on it's track usually fixes it.

Mine has a hard time reading Dvds or Cds. Probably have to take it apart soon, I just keep putting it off.
