This looks like a mildly amusing distraction at best. Link does look cool with a little armor and scarf thing.

I saw the trailer this morning and the first thing I immediately said was "...Uh oh..." while looking at Wii U prices.

    Yo.

Not a fan if the dynasty warriors series but it's a fine spin off. I hope it is set in the Great War explained in a link to the past. Also I didn't watch the trailer so if you play as link that sucks I rather be a new hero.

    Pretty cool looking spin-off...
Hopefully they change up the AI though, because the horde of monsters just kind of standing around wasn't helping make the game look better.

It may just be another game to fill the void between now and Zelda, but it looks like it'll be fun to play.

Being that this is a Dynasty Warriors style spin off, I assume that you can play as numerous different characters. I kind of doubt that it's about the Sealing War, since Link is seen here as a playable character with the Master Sword, and as stated in the backstory of A Link to the Past, the reason for sealing the Sacred Realm up was because there wasn't a hero (Link) to wield the Master Sword and fight Ganon. It's entirely possible that it could be set after the events of Adventure of Link though, with Ganon's followers waging war on Hyrule. Or it's just a non-canon or alternate universe spin-off.

THe problem is, I find the DW style to be repetitive and boring after a while. And I really hope Nintendo does NOT allow anyone outside of their own studios to ever touch a game again, especially one like Tecmo.

Funny enough, I enjoy Zelda more as an adult than I did as a kid.

Well, they did say it wasn't part of the core series. Whether that means it is still set somewhere in the timeline I have no idea.

About the whole AI thing though, I'm pretty sure it was dumbed down just so they could show off the new gameplay.

If this is like a stop-gap spin-off, I suppose that possibly means the actual Zelda U game is still a long ways off.

Dynasty Warriors wasn't something I was ever into, so I know I'm not the best judge here, but even as a spinoff it looks kinda underwhelming.

Does it have to be a game that takes place somewhere in the timeline? It can't just be a DW game based off of the Zelda franchise?

Like do we need a reason why Link, Yoda, Darth Vader, and Spawn showed up in the Soul Calibur series? Does SSB Brawl take place after/during Metal Gear Solid 2? Look at the past DW games, preferably the Gundam ones. The DW Gundam games that have mobile suits and characters from different series/eras...

Meh, I was never a fan of the Dynasty Warriors games. I guess the good thing about them though is that they can easily be churned out, which will help fill the Wii U's game releases.

Three different time lines take place depending on what you want to believe happens in Ocarina of Time.

    ¡Hola!

If the manga that came with Skyward Sword in Japan and was translated in the Hyrule Historia is canon, the blue scarf makes me think it's the unnamed warrior, or the true first Link that fought the Great War side-by-side with the goddess Hylia against Demise's forces near the beginning of the world.

Almost makes sense with the number of enemies in this type of game, even though in the manga the scarf/cape seems to change colors from the cover to the inside.

OoT Link that returned to child age was never known to the public as the Hero of Time, and his exploits in Termina were only known to him and a handful of less than believable characters. He died with the regret no one knew what kind of hero he was. After his death, he became the Hero's Shade to help the next Link (TP) not suffer the same fate. That was always a fan theory, but Hyrule Historia pretty much confirmed that.

That was the one thing that did bug me in Skyward Sword, Hylia was always depecited by herself against Demise. You would think that there a unsung Hero would be there with her like how there always a LINK for a ZELDA.

The most powerful usually get pictured alone. In our own history without getting too deep here, most paintings of Jesus have him by himself when the Disciples were with him like 24 hours a day according to religious works.

I can only think of one example from the game itself that actually referenced this character, and that was at the start where Zelda said that the Goddess had passed down a sail cloth just like the one she made to "her hero."
