Yes, but to be fair, if people weren't buying into it, they would change it. I don't know who would buy a used game for a couple bucks less then new, but people do.

I'm just glad they aren't requiring the check in. I will never pirate a game, but it's nice to know that in the future, if I have a game, and I have the system, and I have a tv, there isn't anything stopping me from playing it. I still hook up my SNES every now and then, so I want to be able to do that with all my systems down the line.

You know that there are other options besides GameStop? They're not the one all be all authority in used games.

Indeed. Guess a lot of people would rather trade in stuff easily at GS and take the financial hit, than deal with selling stuff online. Or they're just wealthy people that just don't give a damn.

Yea I still trade in my games to gamestop, but they do rip offs till no end. At the end of the day I'm like whatever, I had a good runs. The only thing that really bothers me is when consoles or handheld systems are being traded in...I hate dealing with Gamestop when I trade in consoles...50 bucks for a xbox 360? Get out of here with that.

Finally. Hopefully the one place that we can talk civilly about the xbox one.

Also, do you realize that IF the Kinect camera can spy on you, the simplest solution is to turn it around or cover it up? Just though I throw that in there in case someone tries to derail the thread with 'kinect can spy on you'.

Ok I've been out of the loop awhile, it no longer needs to be connected 24 hrs and the DRM is no longer so does that mean for example if i'm sitting here playing COD and I want to play halo I got to pop the disc out and insert halo?

My games are on a huge stand that sometimes I just find myself staring at just admiring so I'd be kind of bum if the discs are no longer useful.

... unless they eventually reintroduce the check in.

I've heard the X1 won't function if the Kinect can't see you. Is that true or not?

Yes, unless a) you buy digitally or b) they reintroduce the old features.

No idea. I only heard that the X1 won't function if Kinect is not connected. I heard nothing about camera not working or not

That's a supply and demand thing; the games are only worth money if people are still buying them up. Since Aus is a smaller market, I can see your complaint but frankly it's the price I have to pay to have the market in the first place. The only other major retailer that does used games now is JB Hi-Fi, Game went out of business and the smaller dealers keep going under too.

Well that's good. He had the option to do it through eBay at all. I mean if this DRM nonsense stayed, imagine what kind of unholy alliance publishers like EA and co could build with GameStop to be the only approved retailer to accept back the physical copies and sell them with new codes or something....it would be a nightmare.

Right, however you have to connect it to the internet before you can get it to work offline. Also, some games, like mentioned above will not have the entire game on the disc when you buy it.

If there is still no way to turn off Kinect I'll pass until it's hacked to turn it off. Sorry but I do not trust any company that requires you to have an active web cam to use the console. Besides the only exclusive game I am interested in is KI3

You know, a few years ago when the Kinect came out I noticed that a girl I knew from high school was working for Xbox's PR team. Now, this girl was a very pretty, very blonde girl who would be categorized as being in the traditional high school "in crowd." The type who really resent your traditional nerds/geeks and would probably only consider dating you if you were part of the football thing... Anyway, the point of this all is that I am now pretty much convinced that the entirety of people working in the Xbox division at MS are these type of people. Suits and others who really don't give a toss about our hobby/passion, and as a result, they are completely out of touch with everything that is not purely mass-market. Pretty disgusting, I don't remember them always being this out of touch. :(

...Actually, I should add her on Facebook. She was pretty fine...

I disapprove of Kinects being forced on you as much as I disapprove of Nintendo not giving everyone the option of playing games with Gamepads when it's appropriate to do so.

Primus, look at games now. Every game is being sold w/o online passes. Which cost $10-20.
You buy a used game for $40 or so. Online pass makes it up to the retail price at times.

I wanted DOA5 used but it was 40 w/o online pass. Found the CE new at a local store for $40.

At least no more online passes, thank Primus

Anyone having any problems with XBL right now? Was playing with a friend, then decided to switch to BF3. It wouldn't load for either of us, so we tried Far Cry 3 (bought off the market place for both of us) and it wouldn't even launch the game. Restarted my Xbox and now it's telling me to put in my email and password, so I did. Then asks me if I want to keep the password every time I turn the console on, I get past that (it freezes then goes again as well) then says some random error has occurred and signs me out. Can't get in at all...

I find that hard to believe, Microsoft have been shouting from the rooftops how the X1 was built around the Kinect.
