At the end, when everybody is being "cured" of the Geostigma, I don't believe that they are cured by a good entity. It appears that Jenova is recalling all of her cells. When Kadaj dies, he talks to "Mother", Jenova, and she wants him to return to her, thus strengthing Jenova since all of her cells were learning from their hosts including the most impressive Cloud.  |

The only connection the wolf has to the story that I've noticed is that Cloud's motorcycle is named Fenrir.
As for your other point, no. The cure for Geostigma came from the planet. Jenova was a "calamity from the sky", to quote the game. Also, when Cloud "died", Aeris comments about the number of times she's been called "Mother". Kadaj thought he saw Jenova as he was dying, but it was probably Aeris.
