Sega: Spectrum, A New World Of Entertainment - eTeknix Would be quite a game changer if sega returned to the console market. Thoughts?
A console (a conventional one, at least) is probably the least likely possibility. They're far too cozy with Nintendo right now. It could be some kind of arcade system or other entertainment kiosk (like the urinal games they made awhile back), an online service, or maybe some type of specialty console. Keep in mind Sega also makes toys, electromechanical games (think Chuck-E-Cheese), and educational electronics.
The image is not confirmed to be real. The biggest problem is that the Sega logo is not "real" aka it is made using a fan-made font. Second problem is that the photo is of a computer screen. I suppose we wait 2 weeks and find out.
I keep wanting to make some long reply but nothing I can type seems to come out right, so I'll just keep it short and sweet. I'd be excited if Sega got back into making consoles, but I'm worried about how they'd do since they haven't made a console in almost 15 years.
Assuming they would, they would have to keep themselves from making the same mistakes they did before. (I.E. horrid advertising, and questionable business practices)
The only way I could ever see SEGA giving consoles another go, is if both Sony and MS leave the console business.
interesting that the logo is cmyk. is sega breaking into print media now? really don't think its a console, but I'm baffled as to what it is since they went with that for the logo...if it's real at all.
