Didn't we already have a prequel game? Two of them (the second one taking place before the events of GOW2)? I would have liked to see a God Of War 4, than another prequel. BUT...I'll still play it. LOL
Isn't Kratos dead? Wouldn't that negate him in a sequel. If we do get a prequel, we need to see Kratos before he's pissed off. Although, we got a little of that in Ghost.
The reaction to this news is both heartwarming because people aren't taking this bullshit of releasing a new installment to a stale franchise AGAIN, and annoying because people are excited for it.
I haven't played GoW3 yet, but since when has dying ever stopped him? Though a new protagonist could be cool too.
God of War has not disappointed the fans of the series. People who aren't fans will naturally not care, but to be disappointed that fans of the series are excited about a new game in the series, is a bit strange, almost like there's something more going on here . It just strikes me strange that you comment on a thread of a game that you have no interest in, to celebrate your pleasure at seeing distaste for it, and disappointment that fans of the series are excited about it. Using the term "heartwarming" to describe a negative reaction to a game series that you don't like in the first place is a little....off
Okay. I think God of War is a overblown franchise that, while impressive in set pieces and gore, has run its course, and this once again shows that video gaming is in a pit of no creativity. Of course, if this game innovates the franchise and gives it a new spin that warrants more games being made, I'll eat my words. But if it's more of the same- which it probably will be- my disappointment stands. It makes me happy to see that people are annoyed with the reuse of a franchise that has already ended. That shows that gamers aren't all gore-happy, sequel-hungering zombies. The God of War franchise has run its course, more specifically, Kratos has. If the game were a new time on the story, I would be far more open to it. That's what separates my love of Metroid, Zelda, and even Assassin's Creed from this move- though Assassin's Creed was grating me for a bit with its reliance on Ezio, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. They tell new stories with new mechanics and characters and don't fall back on tired concepts. Kratos is dead, let's accept it and create a new, better IP or tell a better story with the God of War name.
Makes sense. Good response. I agree that I would have liked to see a future story like some other folks. I'm still excited by the possibility because GOW 3 blew my mind. Also, I'm still a little Gore-hungry
I apologize if I came off snarky with the gore-hungry comment. There's nothing wrong with mercilessly ripping someone's head off and using it as a lantern, as long as it's in the digital world and not in real life. Epic kills are cool.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. I like being able to pick up a franchise game that I've played before, makes me feel like an expert at it when the controls on the same. I can start the game on hard to give me a challenge and I'm sure they'll add new moves / armor and a fresh coat of paint. I welcome this as compared to the 100 FPS's that are available with a new one every month. I'll gladly take a GOW, Uncharted, Mass Effect, LBP once every three years as compared to some the **** they have been shoveling us lately.
Difficulty curve shouldn't require you having to up the difficulty level- and if a franchise refuses to innovate, then it becomes stale. Honestly, GoW3 was a roller coaster ride, but offered nothing that really turned the franchise on its head- it was just the logical conclusion to a mediocre story- "logical" being a silly word, considering the amount of ridiculousness. Remember when games were challenging for the sake of challenging the player?
Some game were challenging to the point of pushing me away forever *F'in Battletods*. Really I guess I just use games differently than you, if I want something new or a different experience I play something else. I like knowing what to expect when I put the game into my system. I like my games like a fast food restaurant if I go to Mc D's and order a burger I know what to expect if I bite into it and they changed it to fried chicken with onions and mustard I'd have an issue.
Not against another GoW game, but I would love to see the GoW team move on at some point and take on another mythology. Norse mythology would be my personal choice.
