getting doom and nba jam te with the console.

eying blackthorne, afterburner and kolibri (ecco devs), will likely pick all those up pending any good ebay or local auctions. cosmic carnage looks so weird! I love fighters but I dunno if I can get into that. I may pickup mkII and wwf arcade since no loading time and they both look solid.

    Awesome thread.

I've been playing whatever Arino from Game Center CX plays.

Waiwai World. I owned that game when I was 10. It's nice to finally have a translated one.

My original NES still works and is currently hooked up to my TV. I really need to revisit it this weekend.

In my pursuit to get every copy of Doom available, I picked up a new in box 32x for the sole purpose of playing their version of Doom. It's okay. Better than the Super NES version but not as good as the Jaguar or Playstation ports and apparently MUCH better than the 3DO version (but it has music compared to the silent Atari version).

As for other games they're kind of piddly, since the 32x died out pretty quickly. I want to pick up Knuckles Chaotix and Virtua Racing deluxe, but I don't see myself getting/wanting any more. Some games need the CD attachment to run as well.

I'm hoping to pick one up for the Super NES. I'd love to have every single game ever made on one cartridge. I would for the NES but I'm trying to collect the entire (well, 90-95%) library. I was looking at the choices on Stoneagegamer.com. They're expensive but some of the best.

doom is pretty fun. so funny cause you have no idea what you're actually shooting at besides pixels, but it's a lot of fun.

got kolibri coming soon, really excited to play that and hopefully will pickup a knuckles chaotix auction over the weekend.

picked up boxed w/instructions sonic, sonic 3, super thunder blade, and loose ecco 2 and thunder force 2 today for $20. not too bad.

I got the NES Power Pak not just for that, but for homebrew, hacks, and translations as well. Not to mention being able to play FDS games on a front-loader AND never have to worry about the stupid rubber band in the disk drive breaking.

I don't think any good games actually used both the 32X and the CD add-on, and the CD games that did use 32X usually had a non-32X disc as well. Unless you really need to play Corpse Killer in 256 colors, the combination is pretty disappointing. Separately they've each got some gems.

It's a cart you can load your own games on to play them on the original hardware. That could be a homebrew game like Blade Buster or D-Pad Hero, a fan translation of an import game, an existing game modified with new levels or graphics, or the same ROMs you would use with an emulator.

    been awhile...recent acquisitions:

    Snes
Metal Warrior (finally, fuck yes. my favorite snes game.) - $60/cart
Secret of Mana - $52/cart, saves
Secret of Evermore - $23/cart, saves
Final Fantasy MQ - $10/cart, saves

    Gen/32x
    aladdin - $5/boxed
    flashback - $10/boxed
    wrestlemania arcade 32x - $12/boxed
    knuckles chaotix 32x - $25/cart+manual

    Saturn
    Vampire Savior - $10/complete
    Legend of Oasis - $20/complete
    Dark Savior - $20/complete
    Fighting Vipers - $2.50/complete
    Albert Odyssey - $30/missing instructions
    2x virtua sticks - $40/new in box

    GBA
    FFIV - $10/cart
    FFV - $10/cart
    Advance wars 2 - $10/complete

A little video game store up in my vacation spot in Michigan I visit yearly had the metal warriors for $70. Label was a little torn on the top so he chopped a bit off the price. Still for what this goes for on ebay, complete steal. MW is one of the most brilliant games ever designed and I dunno why I passed up buying a new copy all those years ago. My favorite SNES game finally made its way home.

Forgot what a great zelda clone legend of oasis was too. Kinda follows the LTTP formula and as far as graphics and animation, it does them better. Wish the series was still around today.

Overall pretty happy with the finds over the last few months. Picked up quite a bit my collection was in need of, and stuff I never thought I'd see again.

Those are some good pick-ups for some good prices, especially Metal Warriors. Like a few others, that game has jumped in price 300% in the last few years. $50 is an insane price, considering it was found in a retail store. And just quickly checking ebay, most carts are going for $200+.

I'll have to check out Legend of Oasis for the Saturn. I'm always game for a good Zelda clone.

Thats awesome, I've surprisingly never played that one and I've always been an arcade rat. My favorite old school arcade game has gotta be robotron, just so addicting and hard to put down once you've really gotten into it.

Finally have a good setup to play retro too, a nice glass stereo cab I got at a second hand shop for ten bucks, and fits my 20" flat tube just perfectly on top. I gotta take some pics of all my game shit sometime, and need to update my TF collection too. One of these days.

Secret of Mana is really an amazing game. I know people rave up and down about it but I only rented it once as a kid and never really got into it. Owning it now, I'm really seeing how special it was. Just a delight to play and the visuals are still crisp and colorful even by todays standards.
