But the 3D on such a small screen seems pointless to me. It isn't going to immerse you more into the game like a console game will. I'll take better graphics over 3D any day.

You'd be surprised how well a game can immerse you on a small screen.

To those people who poopoo handheld gaming, just because you don't like the small screen, you should give it a try.

Oh, I'n not saying portable gaming is bad. I own a DS Lite and PSPgo. It's just that 3D is meant for big things. It might add depth to the game, but it doesn't add anything that is a must-have. The bigger screen and better graphics on the NGP appeal to me more than a smaller screen and 3D.

I agree with your last sentence. 3d is cool but i think 3d is more of a gimmick then an actual game play changer. i don't get it why people love 3d so much.

3D is a game changer, it really depends on the game.

    Yes, it certainly can be.

People need to stop equating 3D movies to 3D gaming. It's a different beast.

I never done a 3d game yet I just figured it would be like a movie. But If nintendo let you turn Off the 3d on the 3ds then they are not going to change game play between a 2d and 3d.

Granted, 3D used unimaginatively could be pointless.

But imagine something like Chu Chu Rocket with a 3D playing field? That would blow my mind.

I dunno. Nintendo have obviously looked at all the other portable gaming systems out there, PSP, Iphones etc and decided not to compete directly against them.

I mean, snazzy graphics are great and all, but how long until the muscle in an ipad eclipses the NGP? Sony have attempted to futureproof the NGP with the extra rear pad but really? Their handhelds always seem to be playing catchup to me.

Thinking about it now, I don't really see the need for 3G service... Wi-Fi works well enough, and if I want some portable multiplayer, I'll just purchase myself a Mi-Fi and a service plan...

Mostly for the other apps, or if you're somewhere without a free Wi-Fi spot around.

I think it going to turn out like the ps3. super expensive at first, every game has stupid motion gimmick, very little own it compared to other consoles then after a few years a cheaper price and ditch the dumb motion and touch controls for every game control and it will come back with a boom.

Oh yeah, that "who's playing what around me" application... yeah...

A little intruding on players privacy, what with the tracking what you did that day?

    Oh wait, that's GPS specific...

    We can hope.

My stance on the PS3 changed over time. I went from being all about the PC and Xbox (and Wii) and hating the PS3 to loving the PS3 (and PC, and to an extent Wii) and hating the 360.

Maybe something similar can happen here. I'd love for this thing to be great, and hopefully reasonably priced.

They've already got me by the wrecking balls with Uncharted.

I have read that the main team is not working on this Uncharted. I doubt that means it will be bad, but it does make me more dubious. Despite that, i don't really think Uncharted is a "buy a whole system for" game. It helps me want it, but it can't do it alone.

They may not be working on it but you have to hope/think that someone from the main team will be supervising or at least have a hand in this project.

Yeah, like I said I don't think it will be bad and I doubt it would go unchecked by some people from the main team. I just think they have to balance making a new and fresh experience with a decent story while not doing anything that would contradict the games made by the main team.

This is gonna be amazing. Sure it'll be expensive at first, but every new tech is. Gonna get 3DS and this, but this will be the hardcore gamers choice of handhelds. Love the my PSP and PS3, so Sony didnt have to do much to pursuade me on this.

Finally... dual analogue sticks...and no more disc media. Hard lessons learned.
