This guy modded an awesome Grimlock: Street Fighter X Tekken PC - Bikini Jaycee - Grimblock and slug - YouTube
I bought the PC version last month from Steams durinf their holiday sale. For $15 I got the "Street Fighter x Tekken Complete Pack" which included all DLCs. Having enjoyed the game I bought the game for the PS3 on Gamefly for $15 shipped. I expected to pay for some of the DLCs, but to my surprise Capcom wanted $20 for the extra characters. Was this always the price or was it higher due to it being a now older release? And does Capcom ever have their DLCs on sale?
It's always been $20 on consoles. I *think* it's been on sale before, but only once or twice maybe? I think the sales are usually dictated by Sony and MS though.
The extra characters has always been $20, and to my knowledge, has not gone on sale at all for PS3 or Xbox 360.
I know for a fact that they've been on discount on PSN before, because that's when I bought them. It was during the week of ver.2013's release. I also remember it being on sale another time, too. Another way to tackle this is if you have a Vita and buy the Vita version of the game, which can be pretty cheap. It comes with a code that'll give you the DLC characters for free.
I'm pretty sure they were on sale at least once before on XBL. It still worked out to be like $50 to unlock all the characters and their costumes though. Here's a big middle finger, Capcom. A giant one. I've never let you burn me like that again. Oh wait, this is better, because you only pay for the characters you use. Yeah, because in 25 years I've always felt like I've been getting ripped off because I have to pay for Dhalsim and I never use him. What and also ever.
Wasn't a fan of them locking away that many characters myself, but it was still better than forcing everyone to buy a new disc, "Super SFxT", a year later that renders the old one obsolete and useless. People have been slinging their hate at Capcom over that for years now, especially over Ult. Marvel 3. They listened and tried an alternative method for long term support of the game. Obviously it didn't pan out and now we're in the age of FGs forcing us to download gigs of compatibility packs before we're allowed to play.
The fact that all of the DLC was on disc made things worse. Did not feel bad at all when I hacked them on my Modded PS3. That's some serious BS Capcom.
Here's a thought. Instead of forcing everyone to buy a new disc, or instead of locking everything on the one disc and then forcing you to pay more than the cost of a new disc to use it, how about Capcom actually just allowed you to use everything on the one disc? You know, they worked their hardest to make it the most entertaining value ever? Maybe something that you could, I don't know, plug two controllers in and play?
That kind of thinking is revolutionary! How have fighting games never been like this before? And while we're here Capcom could include hidden characters, y'know ones that you didn't know you paid for, but can unlock by pressing 'start' at the right place, or selecting characters in a certain pattern? That would be, like, totally amazing! I haven't played a Capcom fighting game in... ages. I bought... some kind of Capcom/Tekken thing played it once and can't even remember the name. That was £40 well spent.
