I pre-ordered mine for all of £30, so can't wait for it to arrive. As Dragon Age blew my mind i'm expecting Mass Effect 2 to do that same.

What class is everyone gonna be first?

Solider, as I am going to import my character from the first game and will not change it.

I preordered it through EAstore. I can't wait- the first is still my favorite game of the current generation and I am playing through a 3rd time right now so I have all the decisions exactly how I want them to carry over for the sequel. Biggest decision- should the council live or die? I still don't know...

I heard that importing your save simply grants you bonuses on your new character so you can change things such as class as its not simply a case of your Mass Effect 1 character continuing on.

There was a video about it from the developers on xbox live a few months back.

There are certain choices you made that will continue over the entire story arc. As for your Shepard retaining all his characteristics. I can't elaborate without spoiling things.

    Major Spoilers below

The Normandy is attacked at the beginning and 'your' Shepard is sucked out into space where he dies. A new Shepard is recreated Fifth Element-style in a Cerberus lab. It is this Shepard you play which is why you can change your class and appearance. He does retain his memories though so your previous playthrough still has an impact.

    End Spoilers.

I'll still be playing as an Infiltrator as I like the sniper playstyle even if the old game didn't really support it too well. Plus the predator-inspired camo just screams awesome.

    Thank you!
    I love you.

You are way better than that "other" mod.

    The infiltrator class intrigues me.

I dunno man, my Shepard would take out almost and entire Geth camp before the team even got the chance to move in. I'd sit up on a tall mountain and shoot down at them from such a distance that they didn't know what was hitting them. I had her maxed, so she had no shakes and the poor geth died before they realized that we were coming in to take over.

You've clearly never messed around with Singularity. :)

Oh I didn't mean it wasnt effective just that the game was structured around team based combat and when sniping I kinda wished for my team to just bugger off and leave me to it. Although with the sequel I can see me using Garrus and Thane for a Sniper group.

Also it was kinda tricky to use effectively inside buildings, but the ability to splode heads and then vanish like the goddamn Batman should more than make up for that.

So excited for this. Can't wait for Tuesday.

I remember when Mass Effect came out all my co-workers were like get it, and you'll love it. And I was like, pfft, whatever. Not interested. Then about a year later I bought on clearance for $9.99 and boy, did I regret not having the game for the previous year. It was the first game that inspired me to achievement whore. There's nothing left for me to do in that game and I still play on my friends profiles so I can experience with the original level cap and no bonuses from unlocked Achievements.

Also funny ME story, one of my said buddies didn't show up for work for 2 two because he did nothing but play the PC version and got fired.

I'm gonna import my Soldier Sheppard first then a new Biotic Sheppard after wards to experience ME2 all it's own.

Ah yes, I definitely see what you mean there. Sometimes I would definitely use the Hold Position, and go solo. Kinda like I do in Dragon Age

I also pre-ordered it from my neighborhood game store.

As far as sniping stories go. I love dodging rockets while using my sniper riffle against them gun turrets. Also like finding a nice well guarded spot in a mountain and take my time snipping them turrets as they keep shooting missles on to hit rock.

Speaking of spoilers, I've been totally avoiding trailers and even articles as to know as little as possible. I didn't know who the characters were or the races or anything for the first one, and I swear every article and trailer wants to show you everything NOW. I saw the video on Xbox live, titled something like "Your choices matter in Mass Effect 2". I was thinking "ok I want to know how my choices carry on from the first and maybe that will tell me. Of course I started watching it and it just starts showing clips for the second one so I stopped it. They really shouldn't be too informative for RPGs like this- I have fun finding out what new races and villians and characters there are.

So, anyways, probably going to avoid this thread for now on until I've played it a bit.
