This is a DS title? Awwww shucks, do they let you create your own character like the last few PS titles?

I'm waiting for the second PSP one. It will finally have infrastructure, and the first game was awesome save for that missing (and very important element).

Dagger, I'm pretty sure it lets you customize your character.

You mean a PS game that's not a MMO? I didn't think that was possible anymore.

People were still playing it online with some alternative ways, but all of these are MMOR. I would also love a single player game, but I do enjoy these and this PS0 is going to kick ass too.

Yes you can customize your character, but you are a bit limited, unfortunately.

On the upside, Sega is talking about doing DLC. At the moment, they're considering remaking one of the levels from PSO. Hopefully, if they continue with more DLC, they'll add new customization options. If they do, there's no need to worry about your current characters. Apparently, you can change your looks, and even your name, any time you want. The only thing you can't change after the fact, is your MAG color.

The game is out today, but mostly at Gamestops. Most other places don't seem to have it, yet. So, who else got it?

Nothing against the DS games, they look fun and all. But I wish Sega would focus on doing another full blown console game. And do it right. Do another PSO for the 360 and PS3 and forget PSU ever happened.

Having never heard of Phantasy Star, is this game worth dusting off the DS?
Any idea how the storyline and actual gameplay is? Replys are much appreciated.

The game is basically a hack & slash dungeon crawler. Each level is on a grid. Each square on the grid represents a room. You move from room to room, killing all the monsters to get money, items, and to open up the adjacent rooms. At the end of the level, you fight a boss. I haven't gotten very far in the single player story mode, yet, but it seems ok. From what I understand, each of the three races (human, cast, newman) has it's own take on the overall plot. It's the same story, but from three different perspectives.

The gameplay is pretty fun, if a little tough, until you get the hang of it. Even for someone like me, who played the original Phantasy Star Online back on the Dreamcast. Things are changed just enough to make me have to relearn some things. Primarily the timing on melee weapons.

If you don't plan on playing online, I'd probably suggest skipping it. The multiplayer is really the main draw of the game. It's almost like having a pocket sized MMO.

Sounds pretty fun, might have to pick it up. And do you mean multicard, or can you actually play DS games online now-a-days?

    Both.

Yeah, there have been several DS games with online multiplayer. Off the top of my head, there's Mario Kart, and Metroid.

After Playing this for a bit... I have to state, that the feel (in terms of setting) is simmilar to that of Turn-A Gundam.

Also, my favorite weapon type: Gunblades.

Currently main a HUmar, but also play HUnewm and RAcasel

    Also,a bit of spoiler:
I believe this takes place in between Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe. Judging from the text that's seen in Paru Ruins, it's the same font used during the initial collonization of "Earth" Believed to be Ragol / Rykros.
The fact that Dark Falz shows up as the final boss probably means that it didn'f offically die during the events of PSO, since it was defeated with Photon Weapondry, not Laconium weapons.

    I like using Double Blades.

My main is a HUnewearl, and I also have a RAmar. I haven't decided on my 3rd yet. Probably going to be a HUcast. I can't really play a force.

No idea about where the game fits in the whole series, but about
Dark Falz. He's been in pretty much every Phantasy Star game. He's basically like what Unicron is now, the living embodiment of chaos.
