Lets unite and talk everything Resident Evil.

So i will start, i have a love for Resident Evil like Optimus Sledge has a love for anal sex.

Today, me and a friend of mine nearly completed the Mercenaries mode on RE5 and got b's on all but one, we got an A on. We have one level left to go after the ship level. The Chainsaw majinis or whatever keep getting the best of us.

    So, people, talk RE

So this covers movies and games, just games or...or what? If it covers both, its kind of hard to pigeon hole it into 'games' or 'TV/Movies' - which would make it 'General'. I suppose.

In any event. We're on games, so in the last few weeks I've played and finished, for the umpteenth time, 'Resident Evil 2' - Claire and Leon, scenarios A and B, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Veronica X, Outbreak 1/2, and am now playing RE4 for the 10 time. Finished 'Seperate Ways' and aced 'Mercenaries' ages ago on RE4 as well.

Films: All good, except the sudden jump of the huge gap between 'Apocalypse' and 'Extinction' needs to be filled, 'Resident Evil: The Valentine Agenda' perhaps? Explaining Jill's story between the two films.

Considering the original poster is talking about video games, I'm moving this to that forum. If you want to talk about the Resident Evil movies, you can post in any of these existing threads in the Movies forum:

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/search.php?searchid=1160390

If one of those isn't the Resident Evil film you want to discuss, then you can create a new thread for it.

I'm a Silent Hill person myself, but I love the RE series as well. RE4 is my definate favorite, followed closely by the remake of 1, and 2. Still remember crapping myself when the dog jumped through the window in the original, though it sort of loses its effect after multiple viewings. I really didn't like the movies, though. I felt they strayed too much from the games, and just happened to be zombie movies that took place in Raccoon City. Not the worst video game movies ever made (I'm looking at you Bloodrayne), but not the best. All in all, a memorable series, and I can't wait for RE 6, which is supposed to go back to the series' roots.

Last I heard Capcom hasn't picked a director or producer or anything yet. I watched an interview on EP Daily yesterday and they said they have no real direction for the game yet, or something to that effect.

I'm hoping it goes back to the roots because RE5 was a step backwards, or more so a complete stand still.

I love the series. RE1 broke my PS1 hymen. I remember fondly when the Licker almost made me shit myself in RE2 in the damn police interrogation room.

    Good times.

I am a SH fan too. SH2 is a masterpiece, but RE is just sheer fun.
The whole puzzle/key thing works far better with SH. The whole artefacts and spells/wierd key/ethereal angles are used very well.

Sometimes, sometimes, RE just gets ridiculous, "who the hell uses this elaborate setup just to get into an office, sewer control room or the like?" - apparently RE's creators do. :lol  - still, thats the point and just a little whinge in an otherwise exemplary series. The furthering of the story with RE4 was also very well done - I was worried for a while that we'd get another 'during the Raccoon City incident' episode. As much as I enjoyed the Outbreak games, the stupid AI aside (thank goodness for lone wolf mode), I wanted something outside the city for once. I got that with RE4.

While I loath Code Veronica, I heart RE4 and now RE5. I'm on level 6 now and can't wait to beat it again. Just wish stupid Sheva would quit wasting ammo, but I forgive cause she got that onion booty.

to quote someone in my past on 3rd person view games: "if you have to be stareing at a VG character's ass all day, it might as well be an attractive ass".

tip. only let her have the machine gun, MG ammo are plentiful and she wont run out.

you keep the the shotgun and rifle. handguns are weak.

Jesus christ. This final fight against Wesker has to be the most rage inducing moment in my history of video gaming.
I usually love Wesker, but now Im just sick of his cheap ass, QE bullshit.

That and I spent the entire game using the machine gun, only to find out its not worthless because I need a long range gun. Terrific.

DEEERRRP. That was me being a ****. I was shoving the boulder too early.

Tell you what guys, upgrade your shotgun to max, that shit is the shit, try and upgrade your regular handgun to max, and maybe sniper rifle, the last standoff with wesker on the volcano gets to be a bitch. its really more of a two player deal.

I wasn't a fan of CVX either for a while, last time I played it was years ago, but time changed my persepctive. Sure, its a bit stiff and doesn't quite have the feel or grit of the previous games, but its still better than the Gun series.
RE4, of course, blows it away completely and vaporises it.

Yeah, She's had the machine gun exclusively since the start of level 2. I enjoy my handgun though.

A handgun makes it more, I guess, personal. I love the frantic shooting and the rush of it. Even head shots aren't a sure thing until you upgrade/get a Magnum, but my weapon of choice is definitely a handgun.
Plus, handguns rely on a steady aim and making shots count. Builds the aiming skills.

Tell you what, don't upgrade jack and whip your knife out, learn his attack timing and stab his weak point. For some reason blades do more damage then bullets against Wesker.

Either that or a Colt upgraded as much as you can afford will do.

Anyway on RE6 I think they could totally keep the entire 3rd person perspective thing but they really need to lose the action gunplay that they went for in RE5.

Better balance the ammunition. Really I think RE1 could be just as scary with the 3rd person point of view even if it had the exact same weapon and item placement. It's just that Capcom decided to give players boxes of bullets for RE4 & 5 instead of a few clips.

I'd say the way they are going with the viruses is good but they should just have both in the next game (T & and the Progenitor, maybe G too). Also go for some more outlandish creature designs. Thinking about RE5 now there was a real lack of fucking weird looking monsters like lickers, or iron maidens.

Besides the Reapers none of the new monsters where that cool or weren't exposed enough to leave much of a impact (U8). Go for some stuff like they did in RE2 or the outbreak series.

Also make moving while shooting happen. Dead Space did it perfectly and was way creepier then RE5 ever was. Maybe they can compensate movement with large hordes of zombies or manji or whatever slow-moving basic enemy they come up with next, ya know how the original trailers for RE5 presented itself as and the final product totally did away with?

My biggest grip is the new inventory system. While I don't mind ammo and weapon conservation, it is just too damn difficult to switch items with Sheva during battle (esp since grenades are useless to her). They really need to go back to the pause inventory screen. Oh, and did they really have to make the vests take up an inventory slot? The upgrade system kinda sucks too. I'm on 6-3, and still haven't completely upgraded one weapon completely yet. By the end of 4, I had all my main weapons upgraded.

And Stupid Sheva, I set a mine for one of those hermit crap guys and that stupid, but fine-ass woman runs right into it. Still fun, but I think I'm gonna replay a few levels and upgrade my weapons before finishing my first run through.
