Who else here plans on getting into Champions Online? I have been waiting for this game ever since they first announced it. Hoping there will be some other Transfans on it as well.

Post here if you're gonna play.

This comes out for both PC and 360, right?

Then totally. I still need a name for my hero and villain.

I may pick it up for the 360. I'm sticking with CoH on my PC though.

Doesn't look appealing to me, perhaps if CoH didn't exist.

It's made by the same people who mad CoH it just doesn't suck. Gameplay is a lot better from what I've seen plus it just looks better all around.

See, that's just your opinion. I've been playing CoH for almost four years and don't get the "it sucks" complaint. Though as I said, opinion. And of course it will look better, CoH has been out a little over five years now...

Same. From what I heard, CO isn't all it's hyped to be, so say those from the Beta. I might try it out, but I'm certainly not dumping my CoH account for it.

Who here's all tried it? I just bought it on tuesday and I'm not impressed. The game plays like a clone of CoH really. Not worth the $50 price tag nor is it worth 15 smackers a month.

Gameplay is alot closer to WoW then CoH really, and its having the standard release issues, they keep tweaking things. I was in beta and the head start, and although its really close I think they could have used another few weeks to finish balancing and polishing it. I'm enjoying it, and there is alot of cool stuff in it, but it really doesn't break any molds when it comes to MMORPGs other then the fact that it is a classless game. You can literally be anything you want depending on what powers you pick as you lvl.

Of course that means its also possible to gimp yourself to a point which is already causing some people to complain the game is to hard. I'm enjoying it but I think given a month or so to really see what how things go with a live size load of people on the servers and the gameplay it will get alot better.

If it's more like WoW than CoH then I might look into it. I tried CoH after spending considerable time in WoW and thought it wasn't nearly as good in comparison.

360? I've been thinking about getting it, but I may wait for the 360 version instead.

Unless they do a major UI overhaul I would probably not even bother. The text is fucking tiny and all the windows and stuff are irritating as hell, even on a PC with a mouse :(

From what I've heard from friends who have been using the 360 controller on the PC it works really well. Haven't tried it myself but I have to think that on a TV the tiny text isn't going to be an issue either. I don't know many people with monitors bigger then their TVs.

I haven't really had an issue with the text at all and, to be perfectly honest with my opinion, having played both WoW to Lv. 30 and CoH to Lv. 50 both sides, they are both somewhat different games to Champions Online. By virtue of being an online game of course it's going to be similar in some respects but WoW is far more about resource management and timing of when you use your abilities, CoH is slower paced and more strategic with the way you use your abilities. Sure CoH has resource management and timing in relation to its abilities, but you have far less of a diverse and numerous range of abilities and usable items as you do in WoW.

Champions Online is more like a brawler in some respects. You have the ability to block in real-time and most of your abilities will easily and quickly recharge. The way Energy/Endurance/Momentum works makes the game more like an action game than the slower paced combats of WoW or CoH. Furthermore Champions Online has a vast degree of character customization compared to either of the two. CoH has excellent avatar customization of course, but you are restricted in archetype and in powerset once you have chosen. CO lets you choose from any power pool and has more travel options. It has a steeper learning curve compared to CoH, although I cannot really draw an accurate comparison to WoW not having done end game content for either game.

CoH and Champions and WoW are all different games. I can't help but feel that the bashing from either of the camps is born of ignorance for the others. Besides, regardless of what other people say about it, I am having fun playing it and am happy with my investment of a lifetime subscription. The game's still a little rough yet I'll admit and they've been some hefty bumps but Cryptic have been understanding and responded fairly when they've made a mistake. I can't really ask for too much more.
