On Wednesday, Warner Bros. emerged as the only bidder with intent to purchase the bankrupt game company to the tune of $33 million, reports the Los Angeles Times.

With hopes of starting a bidding war, the deadline for all bids ended Wednesday afternoon. But unfortunately for Midway, it turns out only one bidder was interested.

"No other bids came in, so there's not going to be an auction," said Geoff Mogiln, a spokesman for Midway.

Warner Bros. offer includes the majority of Midway Games' assets, including Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter, Joust, the Wheelman franchise, and two of the four development studios.

The deal is not official yet, as the court overseeing the bankruptcy must first resolve several legal battles, including the case involving Tigon Studios over a contract dispute for the voice and name of actor Vin Diesel from the Wheelman series.

The next hearing to address these cases is July 1, which means we could see approval of the bid weeks later.
even though there aren't many good games from Midway, i thought there would of been more bidders than one.

I would have thought the MK franchise alone would draw more than that... I kinda wanted Capcom to put in a bid, get that crossover game we all thought impossible

well, you thought right.
seems that Capcom/MK crossover is now seriously impossible.
But cheer up.
Joust: The movie with Keanu Reeves is a possibility....

As we all know from selling on eBay, it sucks when you only get one bidder. I do hope Mortal Kombat comes back...I haven't played any of the games since the original SNES fighters and hear everything after that point went downhill.

I think Midway should just become an in-house developer for someone instead of a publisher too. That way it's one less thing to worry about.

so Warner Bros are the new owners of Midway Games...hopefully maybe they can turn this around and come out with new and/or good games.

This must be a good move. Everybody knows that nothing is better than when traditional media (movies, TV) and video games combine. /sarcasm
